Kohi & Ngamotu Rural Fire Brigades

Kohi & Ngamotu Rural Fire Brigades Provides a single approach to assist you in helping protect yourself, your family, your neighbours and your business from the threat of rural wildfire.

The Taranaki Rural fire Authority was formed on the 1st July 2013 and provides a single approach to improved fire management of rural fire within the District. The TRFA was disestablished when Fire and Emergency New Zealand came into being on July 1 2017, in order to unify urban and rural fire services. In September of 2021, a new district structure and revised district boundaries were established

. Increasing urban development is occurring within the rural areas, as people are attracted to a rural lifestyle within an easy commuting distance of the Taranaki urban areas, and this trend is expected to increase. This will bring a corresponding increase in the values at risk and the potential for wildfires. The Taranaki Fire District includes large areas of public recreation, leisure and tourism. This results in seasonal fluctuations in the population and demands on recreational space. Fire prevention measures are considered to incorporate these changes to mitigate any increased fire risks or threats. It’s everyone’s responsibility to manage the risk of wildfires. You will find this website will assist you in helping protect yourself, your family, your neighbours and your business from the threat of wildfire. You will also find important information on fire season status across the district, and New Zealand, by visiting https://www.checkitsalright.nz/

What to expect:
➡️Strong southwesterly winds developing Sunday afternoon and evening
➡️Gusts up to 120km/h in exposed areas
➡️Period of heavy rain throughout the day
➡️Conditions may make it driving difficult especially for high sided vehicles and motorbikes.

🐰🥚 Don’t let your smoke alarms sleep through Daylight Savings! 🕒🔥

As the clocks change this Easter weekend, it’s the perfect time to give your smoke alarms a quick check.

✔️ Press the button and make sure they’re sounding loud and proud
✔️ If it chirps or stays silent, it might be time for a battery change
✔️ While you’re at it, give them a quick dust or vacuum
It only takes a few seconds but it could save lives.

Take a moment to check your smoke alarms when you change your clocks.

🐰🥚 Stay safe and have a happy Easter! 🕒🔥

We did it! 🎉

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported and donated to our Relay for Life team. Because of your generosity, we’ve officially hit our $5,000 fundraising goal!

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, bought a BBQ feed, shared our posts, or came along to support us along the way. Every bit of support has helped us raise funds for such an important cause and support those affected by cancer and their whānau.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us make a difference. 💜 We are all ready to go for Saturday, rain or shine! (Preferably shine though 😅)

If you've been thinking about donating but haven't had a chance, there is still time!! https://taranaki.relayforlife.org.nz/kohi-7355-duds-crew
