HPC Services Academy does it again!
Under the guidance and mentorship of Staff Dodds, HPC’s Services Academy continues their excellence form and winning ways of 2026. This week the academy squared up against 14 other Services Academies for their annual adventure challenge in the Lake Okatiana and Rotorua area. While we stayed there we learned a lot about the area we were staying in and the significance of it. A lot of bonds were formed on this camp with the staff that were there, and the other academies - despite it being a challenge we were all aiming to win! The week comprised a myriad of challenges both physical and mental, such as aptitude testing, general knowledge, a military style skill at arms (which covers a little bit of everything we’ve done this year), the Tough Guy Tough Girl Mud Run, an equipment carry triathlon, white water rafting, Waka Ama (where we were taught and able to enjoy the cultural experience of paddling in a Waka) and a Talent show. This morning at the conclusion of a tough week Hauraki Plains Collage, as the defending champions, were announced the winners of the 2026 adventure challenge, which left all of us smiling and celebrating for a while after. - Written by Blake Haynes.
