Thanks for 1st Ngongotahā Scouts for linking up with us and coming and getting amongst it last night.
We put on three activities, extinguisher training, containing bulk water with an improvised dam utilising knots and lines, and get down get out in a smoke logged building, and use of a tic camera.
Some of these components link into what scout groups educate and sign off for their progression in their scouts journey.

🔥 THANK YOU, NGONGOTAHA! 🚒

A huge thank you to everyone in our community who voted for Ngongotahā Fire Brigade to receive $2,000 from Ngongotahā Four Square!

We’re incredibly grateful for your support and for choosing to back your local volunteer firefighters. Every dollar will help us continue supporting our brigade, our firefighters and our community.

A massive thank you to the team at Ngongotahā Four Square for putting this opportunity together and supporting local organisations.

🚒 OUR FIRST HERE 4 NGONGOTAHA WINNER! 🚒

We’re excited to announce that the Ngongotahā Volunteer Fire Brigade are the first winners of our Here 4 Ngongotaha community initiative, receiving a $2,000 donation! 💚

A massive thank you to everyone who shopped with us and placed their tokens in the voting boxes. It’s awesome to see our community getting behind the local groups that give so much back to Ngongotahā.

We were proud to present the brigade with their cheque and recognise the incredible work these volunteers do for our community — giving up their own time to be there when we need them most. 🚒👏

And the voting has already started for our next $2,000 donation! 🙌

This month you can vote for:
👍 1st Ngongotahā Scout Group
👍 Ngongotahā Bowling Club
👍 Kaharoa School

Simply spend $50 in-store, receive a Thumbs Up token and pop it in the box of the group you’d like to support.

Congratulations again to the Ngongotahā Volunteer Fire Brigade, and good luck to our next three groups! 💚💛

We had the privilege of travelling to Putāruru Fire Brigade this evening to celebrate QFF Ania Holden and recognise her three years of dedicated service with Ngongotahā Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Although Ania has just recently began proudly serving with her new brigade in Putāruru, we wanted to make sure her commitment, hard work, and contribution to Ngongotahā didn’t go unrecognised.

Certificate presented on behalf of Ngongotahā Brigade by SO Paul Osborne.

Congratulations on reaching this milestone, Ania. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our brigade and community. We wish you all the very best as you continue your firefighting journey with Putāruru.

We’re excited to launch a new community initiative 🧡

Together we’ll be donating $10,000 to local community groups over the next five months, and our customers get to help decide where the support goes.

Starting Today, when you shop in store and receive a token for every $50 you spend, you can place it in the box of the group you’d love to support. At the end of each month, the group with the most tokens will receive a donation of $2,000.

Here are this month’s community groups you can support.

✨ Ngongotahā Primary
✨ EquiSucceed
✨ Ngongotahā Volunteer Fire Brigade

Let’s get behind these amazing groups and make this first month a big one. We are very excited to kick this off this week and we love being part of a community that supports each other 💫

💛 Know a local community group that could benefit from this initiative? Tag them in the comments below—we’d love to hear who you’d like to see involved in future rounds!

Ngongotahā Volunteer Fire Brigade is pleased to announce the appointment of Ren Keepa as our new Chief Fire Officer.

Taking on the role of Chief Fire Officer is a significant responsibility, and we acknowledge the dedication and leadership required to step into this position.

As he begins this new chapter, we wish him all the very best. We look forward to seeing the brigade continue to grow and serve our community under his leadership.

Winter is the season for house fires.

As the temperature drops, preventable house fires increase 17 percent on average as people do what they can to keep themselves warm.

Most of these fires will start from items such as clothing, beds or couches being too close to a heater or a fire.

These fires can be fatal but that is preventable with some good habits.

So, instead of bombarding you with every hot tip at once, we’ll build one good habit at a time with our winter fire safety series of Hot Tips 🔥

In this series, we’ll cover:
1. Cooking critic turned lifesaver – the humble life of a smoke alarm 🚨
2. Escape my house – a race to get out 🏃‍♂️
3. Size does matter, why items must be 1 metre from the heater 📏
4. Hot under the covers with electric blankets 🛌
5. Belly button or dryer lint – which is more hazardous? 🫧
6. It’s spaghetti junction at the multi-board 🍝

So, whether you own a home, rent or live with family, building some good habits this winter could save your life.
