Kua kā te ahi! The fire is burning. Today marks the end of a year of teaching Mahinga Kai. Of course the only way to end our class is with a haangi and a hākari. So much goes on behind the scenes to put everything together and I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without the help of my little whānau/family especially my husband, he knows a happy wife is a happy life 😂

It’s a whole year since this programme aired on TV. Such an eye opening experience working with a great crew who know there stuff.
If you know my husband and I you will know that we are the last people who would want to be in front of a TV camera. Proud of us for doing it and super proud of the end result.

Raised on whenua, Joyann turned her rongoā skills and plant love into Soul Time, crafting healing balms. Her husband Barlow gathers the rongoā, keeping tradition alive.
