We have a candidate, bring on 2026. Come and join our campaign on the Coast to help and change the government.

I’m excited to announce that on Sunday I was officially selected as the Labour candidate for Whangaparāoa for the second time. I’m so proud to be standing to represent the community I grew up in, that shaped me into who I am today.

Being so heavily involved in community kaupapa, especially our people, and environment, I have a personal investment in this role. I understand that it is a huge privilege, a wero (challenge) and a responsibility to even be selected as a candidate. A huge thank you to everyone who got me here day.

Over the past three years, I have watched division, cost of living & disparity grow, and kind, hardworking people and families pay the price. Our foundational public services, schools, hospitals, firefighters and third sector spaces have, yet again, had to scrape together enough to get by and to serve others, while the top few percent have been given another leg up in life. This is just not good enough.

We deserve better, we can do better, we are better than this. Basics like jobs, health, homes, and our environment need to be prioritised and invested in. In the wake of the negative, what I have seen is people come together like never before. I hope that we all carry that energy into 2026 and make this the first
