Ōrewa Library serves the beautiful beach town of Ōrewa and the surrounding Hibiscus Coast. If your enquiry is urgent, please call (09) 377 0209 (available 8am – 7pm weekdays, 10am – 5pm weekends).

📢 Public holiday closures

All libraries, research centres, Council-run community hubs, community centres and arts centres will be closed on Labour Day, Monday 26 October 2026, except Botany and Flat Bush Libraries.

⏰ Opening hours for Monday 26 October:

Botany Library: 10am–6pm
Flat Bush Library: 10am–5pm

Other services will also be closed, including Research Central and Research South, the Heritage Collections Reading Room, phone and email customer service, Pātaka Kōrero Kaewa Mobile Library and Access Services.

Pre-booked venue hire spaces remain available, although staff will not be onsite.

Our children's programming starts back this week from Wednesday 14 October.
Rhymetime will start back on Tuesday 20 October.

Rhymetime, Taki ruri: Tuesday at 11.00am. Suitable for ages 18months to 3 years.
Wriggle and rhyme, Kori me te ruri: Wednesday 10.00 OR 11.00am. Babies & toddlers.
Storytime, Wā takinga p**i: Thursday 11.00am. 3years to school age.
Wā Pūrākau, Bilingual Storytime: First Paraire (Friday) of the month 10.00am all tamariki welcome.
