We carry the hopes of those who came before us, and we hold a responsibility to those yet to come.

Join us at our Hui-ā-Iwi on Saturday, 25 July, as we come together to help shape a shared vision for the next 100 years of Ngāti Tamaterā.

⚠️ HE PĀNUI HIRAHIRA ⚠️

⚠️ HE PĀNUI HIRAHIRA ⚠️

For 173 years, gold mining has damaged the mauri of Hauraki whenua, wai, and people. Today, government policy continues to favour mining companies over Māori rights, environmental health, and the protection of ancestral lands. Mining activity is expanding across Te Tara‑o‑te‑Ika‑a‑Māui, enabled by legislation that places our whenua at risk.

This hui will:

Outline current gold‑mining activity in our rohe.

Explain how government policy enables mining on ancestral Māori land.

Bring together those who whakapapa to Hauraki and oppose gold mining.

Begin organising collective action to stop mining in our rohe.

Nau mai, haere mai — all Hauraki Māori who stand against gold mining are invited.

Registration is appreciated - https://forms.gle/oiMKE2Fdv7hwEhBz8
