A little bit of planning will go a long way. Are you prepared? πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ”₯🫢🏻

πŸ”₯ While fire danger is expected to rise gradually through spring, strong westerly winds may bring periods of elevated fire danger in some regions

🌱 As spring progresses clear dead and dry vegetation from around buildings, make sure emergency vehicles can easily access your property, ensure water supplies are available and keep spring grass growth under control

πŸƒ How quickly conditions change will depend on spring weather, including temperature, rainfall, humidity, and strong winds

🏑 Now is the time to get prepared. Review your plans, talk with your community, and take practical steps to reduce fire risk before conditions become more challenging

We would like to say a massive shout out, and thank you to Middle Districts Lions Club, who have generously donated funding for our awesome new tactical brigade packs😎πŸ”₯🀩

These packs will ensure we are ready to respond with all the extra gear and essentials we need for longer duration events and deployments.

We also added some customised features with our brigade crest and name patches. We know our crew can’t wait to get out there and put these to good use in our upcoming fire season.

Thank you again Lions Club, we value and appreciate your support πŸ€©πŸ™πŸ»

Practical skills day success πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

We had extra fun this past weekend, aside from our usual training night, a few of our new recruits put in some additional time to take part in our practical skills day🀩

This was a great opportunity to introduce our recruits to some scenarios, equipment and basic hose skills they will come across and need to utilise on the fire ground.

Thank you for your dedication to being better firefighters, we look forward to seeing your growth in the upcoming monthsπŸš’πŸ”₯

We are proud to introduce our new Brigade Leader - Lauren Macfarlane πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

Lauren brings a wealth of strong leadership skills and enthusiasm to the role and we know Lauren will continue to build on the culture and strong foundations of our brigade while we continue to support our wider community.

Please join us in congratulating Lauren on her appointment as we look forward to this new chapter for PNVFB πŸŽ‰πŸ”₯

After training last night we celebrated a few recent achievements of some of our crewπŸ₯³πŸŽ‰

As volunteers the courses we do to upskill, are mostly held on weekends and these are commitments we take on top of our full time jobs and usual schedules. Training and upskilling is vital to ensure we can be the best we can be for our community.

Well done to all of you, and thank you all for the time you put into becoming better firefighters, leaders and growing our brigade from strength to strengthπŸ’ͺ🏻

Planning on a burn? Let us know first πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ€©

Are you planning a burn on your property? Let us know first! πŸ”₯

Whether you are in an open season or you have a fire permit, letting us know when you plan to burn can reduce unnecessary call outs for our crews.
By using this simple online tool and notifying us of your burn:
βœ… Our 111 Dispatchers know there is a planned burn in the area.
βœ… Calls from the public reporting this fire can be cross-checked with what we know is happening in the area.
βœ…Our teams can check in with the landowner to make sure their burn is still safe and under control.
βœ… It reduces unnecessary call outs for our crews keeping them available for emergencies instead of turning up at your fire.

So, before you light your fire, remember to let us know first at https://www.firepermit.nz/fenz/Default.aspx or by calling 0800 336 922 (0800 FENZ CALL)
