When we ask for your feedback in a post or seek submissions as part of a submission process then we may record your comments and supply th

ese to elected members as part of their decision making. That means your profile name, and comment may form part of a council report which will be on the public record on our website in the future years to come, and available to people making requests under the Local Government Act Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA). City Library social media accounts support active citizenship and have the same standards of behaviour as at the City Library’s physical locations. This means that some comments may be hidden or removed, and in extreme cases users may be blocked, based on the following criteria. Any comments that:

• Make personal attacks or defamatory statements about an individual
• Are not relevant to City Library projects or services
• Contain offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, age or religious groups, gender, sexual orientation or disability
• Reveal anyone’s confidential information or disclose their private information or details
• Are misinformation or disinformation
• Are spam or advertising
• Contain offensive language, abuse, harassment or threats
• Contain nudity, po*******hy or child abuse, or comments referring to these
• Contain content that is illegal, gives instructions for illegal activity or advocates illegal activities
• Posts material that violates copyrights or trademarks of others

If there are repeated breaches of the above topics, comments may even be turned off. As part of the Palmerston North City Council, the City Library’s social media sites may not be used for electioneering. Any such comments or posts will be removed. Please bear in mind that any content you share on the City Library’s social media pages will be subject to the host site terms and you should consult with their Terms of Service or Use. These Customer Use guidelines may be amended or updated at any time.

Have you tried one of our new sensory backpacks?
Designed to support young people with sensory needs to feel more comfortable when visiting library spaces, the backpacks contain a location-specific guide and various items to help with communication and self-regulation.

Sensory backpacks are available for use within the library at Central Library (Main Desk) and Te Pātikitiki Library.

They can be issued to the library card of an adult caregiver.

Palmy Zinefest 2026 is coming!

Launching on Fri July 3 with a talk from Bryce Galloway, author of "Zines NZ: Punk to Present", who you may also know from the great band Wendyhouse.
The talk at the library is followed by more cool zine-related activity over the weekend at Te Manawa.

There's STILL TIME to collect the fantastic Comic Cards designed by kids from Awapuni Library's Comic Creation Club!

Pop in to any of the library location, borrow a Children's Graphic Novel*, and you get a free card!

Cards will be available until Friday June 19.
