It was recognized that despite the desirability of young people to attend a local mainstream school, the reality was that a number of young people were unable to do this. Alternative education was as the most appropriate way of ensuring that young people alienated from mainstream schools were able to have another opportunity to complete schooling. HWCAE was established in 1999 and in 2000 the first intake involving 6 students began. Staffing Roles are as follows. HWC Manager/Alt. Ed Manager -

Pink Shirt Day 2026 💕

Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora - Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying.

Today our rangatahi and kaimahi sprinkled some kindness by decorating cupcakes to gift to someone they appreciate 🍰💗

Pink Shirt Day is about celebrating kindness, inclusiveness, and diversity within our communities, while standing together against bullying. Let’s continue to uplift one another and be Upstanders, not Bystanders 🙌

Pēnei i a tātou kua mahue nei
E kore hoki rātou e ngoikore
Ahakoa pehea i ngā āhuatanga o te wā
I te hekenga atu o te rā
Tae noa ki te aranga mai i te ata
Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou
Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou
