Our senior ākonga have been getting stuck into our EPro8 kits, putting their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test!

The EPro8 Challenge is an inter-school science and engineering competition where more than 35,000 students from across New Zealand take part each year. It gives students the opportunity to work together, design, build, problem-solve and think like real engineers.

Over the past few weeks, our senior students have been developing their skills with the EPro8 equipment and tackling some fun engineering challenges. We are excited that some of our students will be selected to represent Ōpiki School in the EPro8 competition in the coming weeks!

We are looking forward to seeing what our budding engineers can create and achieve. Watch this space!

Kia ora Ōpiki School whānau,

We are excited to announce a fantastic fundraising opportunity for our school! Ōpiki School has partnered with the makers of the upcoming Kiwi feature film 1978 for its Feilding premiere, and 30% of every ticket sold goes directly to Ōpiki School. 100% of the fundraised money will go towards fixing and repainting our school pool.

About the Film:
Set in Aotearoa in 1978, the movie follows a small-town family navigating one of the most dynamic years in NZ history. While the older siblings take part in the historic land rights movement at Bastian Point, the youngest son and his friends hatch a series of hilarious schemes to win a high-stakes regional sports day and save their rural school from closure. Funny, moving, and unmistakably Kiwi, it’s a heartwarming story about family, community, and standing up for what matters.

On Friday Room 1 and Room 6 planted seeds together as part of our Enviroschool work led by our Enviroschool leaders; Lily, Aria and Sofia.
We used biodegradable containers to plant a variety of vegetable and flower seeds for our school gardens. It was awesometo see tuākana tēina relationships in action!
