A fabulous turnout for the Rongotea Christmas parade. Well done Glen Oroua School, our float looked awesome. Your vision of Santa 's workshop certainly turned out amazing, Francie. Thank you to everyone who helped out, Andrew for the use of your new truck and all our awesome students and families for their contributions and participation.

It was a beautiful day on Saturday for the Manawatu Oroua Boys and Girls Ag Lamb and Calf Club Championship Day. We had half of our students who presented animals at school, showing them again at Rongotea, with lots of others from schools around the Manawatū. The day ran like clockwork, with lots of connections being made between families and friends.

And yes, we are super chuffed to have won the Craig Cup again! Great work to the GO team who have grown gardens, raised and shown lambs and calves, and created diaries!

Thank You to Our Amazing School Community!

A huge thank you to all our school parents for the time and effort you put into setting up the Trail Ride track and for all the hard work out at the event yesterday.

Every single job — big or small — plays an important part in making sure the day runs smoothly and safely. We had an awesome turnout, with lots of riders enjoying the day and sharing great feedback about how well the event was run.

A special mention goes to Ash Jordan and family, who once again put in countless hours planning and preparing the track — we truly appreciate your dedication!

We’re also incredibly grateful to our sponsors for helping keep costs down: Metal Fold, ARC Asbestos Removal & Demolition, Farmworx Bikes, PGG Wrightson, Wright Tanks, and Humphries Construction.

Finally, a massive thank you to the McKelvie and Flipp families for allowing the event to be held on your properties. Your generosity in opening up your land — and taking on the track and paddock wear and tear — is a huge contribution to making this event possible.

Thank you everyone for another fantastic Trail Ride — a great team effort!

Albeit a little muddier than usual, our Lamb & Calf Day was a wonderful morning that celebrated this uniquely rural tradition. Beautiful to see so many (47) students presenting their calves and lambs that they have spent the winter months rearing, building relationships with, practicing and grooming. They are really fortunately supported by layers of family that see the value in this activity that builds perservance and resilience (and a lot of time pushing through when things get tricky!).

We had a few other teams on the day running the food tent, and involved in other activities and their participation and involvement was top notch too!

Events like this require a number of people 'cogs' in the wheel to make them a success, and your support of our Calf & Lamb Day is appreciated - particularly, this time, my weather forecasting advisors!

We hope you enjoyed it, too, and also these wonderful photos taken by a community member.

Making connections with Paper4Trees and
Gemma's (gembol)beautiful mural...

Manawatū District Council is a sponsor of the Paper4trees programme and therefore supporting schools and preschools in the Manawatū District to contribute towards a greener future.

Glen Oroua School shared these beautiful words with us:

"We love that you encourage paper recycling in our kura, and that we gain native trees for doing it."

"Our kids have planted them out in a new garden area created with an extension to a building that has recently been finished. What's beautiful about this is that the garden is adjacent to a mural we had commissioned last summer, included in which is trees that were prevalent in our area when it was a swamp land (named Roto-nui-a-hau) (...) It's just a little corner that we had to plant, so manuka, a couple of ti kouka seedlings we had, and mountain flax (instead of harakeke, because of its size) fill the area beautifully." 💚♻♻💚
