Congratulations to Amanda on reaching her 100th donation milestone today! What an outstanding achievement that has made a real difference to so many lives throughout Aotearoa.

Today at the donor centre we had a recipient come in to share his story and express his immense gratitude to the donors and staff❤️

Marcel was diagnosed earlier this year with an uncommon and extremely aggressive form of lymphoma, and after a difficult start, he has now successfully completed chemotherapy 🎗️

During his treatment, there was a critical period when he desperately needed blood to keep him here today. The nurses and doctors knew exactly what to do, but none of it would have been possible without blood being available when he needed it. Marcel says he never truly understood just how many ways donated blood and blood products could be used, or the incredible impact donors have

He wanted people to know that donors who give their time and blood really do matter — to him, they are selfless heroes who helped save his life. His wife has since started donating blood too, as a way of giving back🩸

Marcel brought in some yummy treats in appreciation for those who saved his life !

Yesterday at NZ Blood in Palmerston North we celebrated National Daffodil day ! 🌼

Some of you might of seen our video from yesterday which was one of the ways we celebrated but here are a few more pictures from throughout our day ! 💛

In New Zealand, 26% of our blood and blood products are used to support cancer patients, making cancer care the largest use of blood products each year 🎗️

This Daffodil Day, we were reminded of the incredible impact that blood donors have on people living with cancer. Every donation can make a real difference, helping patients through treatment and giving them the support they need when they need it most.

A huge thank you to all our amazing donors and supporters who help make this possible. Your generosity truly matters. 🩸💛

Mark Read has certainly made his mark on our community, reaching an incredible 100 donations! He was absolutely thrilled to achieve this wonderful milestone last week. And to make the day even more special, his lovely wife also stopped by to donate later that afternoon. Congratulations Mark and thank you both for you outstanding support!

Which means so are the ills and chills…

❄️ Less than 4% of the eligible population in New Zealand donates and when winter arrives this percentage drops even more due to winter sickness 🤧

Some of you might recognise this familiar face here at our Palmerston North donor centre, Bree one of our registered nurses 🌟

Back in 2020 Bree was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In order to continue with chemotherapy treatment, she required numerous units of blood and platelets. This would not have been possible without the generosity of others and the availability of the lifesaving products our donors to continue to give each and every day

After Bree was lucky enough to have reached her five year ‘cancer free’ milestone she was more than excited to be able to give back and start donating again. Returning the favour inspired by all the donors here in Palmerston North❤️

🌟It’s been a week of milestone achievements here at NZ Blood in Palmerston North !🌟

Here at our donor centre we have celebrated three awesome milestone achievements!

❤️ Paul Kitchenman 150 donations (1st photo)
❤️ Donna Sim 200 donations (2nd photo)
❤️ Hayley Hunt 100 donations (3rd photo)

All together our three awesome donors have collectively saved approximately 1,350 lives!

We want to say a huge thank you to each of them for their continuous dedication to saving lives! 🌟
