We’d like to send our support from Papakura to Ben Wilson, Deputy Chief Fire Officer at Tuakau Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Ben has spent around 20 years giving back to his community and is now facing stage 4 ALK positive lung cancer.

His current treatment isn’t publicly funded in New Zealand, so Ben and Emma are having to cover the cost themselves.

Ben’s spent years being there for others. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.

If you can, please donate or share his Givealittle page.

The money raised will help meet the ongoing cost of Ben’s unfunded cancer treatment and cancer care.

We’re down at the Papakura Girl Guides Winter Market right now!

Come along, support our local girls and help get them to the 2027 Jamboree. There are market stalls, second-hand bargains, cakes, crafts, plants and a sausage sizzle.

We’ve also brought the fire truck along. Bring the kids down to climb aboard, have a look around and have a chat with our crew about fire safety.

On now until 2:00pm
Papakura Guide Hall
17 Ray Small Drive, Papakura

Come down, grab a sausage and support a great local cause.

A big thank you to Mitre 10 MEGA Takanini for donating these four chairs to our brigade.

The chairs will be a great addition to our community engagement gazebo and will travel with us to events, school visits, open days, and other activities throughout our community.

Support like this helps us connect with our community, promote fire safety, and share what volunteering is all about.

Thank you again to the team at Mitre 10 MEGA Takanini for getting behind our brigade.

Massive effort from the boys at the Sky Tower Challenge today.

At this event, firefighters climb all 51 floors of the Sky Tower in full structural firefighting gear and breathing apparatus, raising vital funds and awareness for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

Representing Papakura Volunteer Fire Brigade:

* Matt Sparks
* Curtis Boag

Not many people understand how brutal this event actually is until they try climbing stairs in full kit carrying air on their back. The boys dug deep and got it done.

A solid effort from both of them and something the brigade can be proud of. Good hard work put in on the day, supporting a great cause and showing what volunteer firefighters are made of.

Good stuff boys. Proud of you both.

We’re proud to announce that SFF Sparks and FF Boag are stepping up to the challenge of climbing the Sky Tower in support of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

This climb is more than just a test of endurance, it’s about raising awareness and supporting those affected by blood cancers across New Zealand.

Any donations, big or small, would be greatly appreciated and will go directly toward making a difference.

Thank you for your support.
