Room 14 is ready for kickoff! 🏉🖤

Our Room 14 superstars have had an action-packed week diving into the world's greatest rugby rivalry: the All Blacks vs. the Springboks!

Here is what our little legends have been up to:

Game Predictions: We put our Math hats on, predicted who will take out the next big clash, and tallied up our class votes.

Field Gross Motor Skills: We took to the field to run, kick, pass, and dive for some spectacular tries.

Fine Motor Focus: We refined our pencil grips and focus by carefully coloring in our All Blacks pictures, paying close attention to the iconic team colors.

Anthem & Haka: We practiced singing the national anthem with pride and gave our best, most spirited effort at acting out parts of the haka!

Check out our photos below to see our future rugby stars and super fans in action!

Year 6 Science Spotlight: Room 35! 🧪

Room 35 turned into a full chemistry lab this week as we unpacked the Sweet and Sour House of Science kit to explore acids, bases, and pH scales!

Here’s what our student chemists got up to: Sherbet Science: Mixing chemical compounds to create (and taste!) our own fizzy sherbet. Chemical Reactions: Investigating standard acid-base reactions with classic vinegar and baking soda experiments. From measuring pH to testing real-world chemical reactions, Room 35 showed awesome critical thinking and scientific inquiry

The Ice Cream Challenge in Room 4

Our young scientists have been exploring the delicious science behind what makes ice cream so super creamy. From investigating microscopic ice crystals to discovering how milk and cream coat those crystals to keep them smooth, Room 4 has been hard at work understanding the states of matter.

The highlight? Testing out their knowledge with the Ice Cream in a Bag experiment! 😋🍨

Rockshop Bandquest 2026
What an incredible night at the Bay of Plenty regional Rockshop Bandquest competition last Thursday evening!

Our two Tahatai bands, Rhythm Riders and Sound Storm, took to the stage and performed absolutely amazingly! The energy, confidence, and talent on display were next level, they blew the crowd away and made our entire school community so proud.

A massive shoutout to Eri Henderson for her endless dedication, tireless practice sessions, and preparation. Thank you, Eri, for everything you did to coach the kids and help them shine on stage!

It was also fantastic to spot our past Tahatai students, Leo, Rev, and Nevaeh, rocking out with their intermediate bands! Seeing their continued passion for music was a real highlight of the night.

Congratulations to all our amazing performers, you were absolute superstars!

Simple Machines - another fabulous resource from House of Science.

Room 26 explored how common items like wheels, ramps, screws, stairs and pulleys function as simple machines to make physical work much easier. We worked in groups to complete the interactive activities and see the mechanics of these basic tools in action. We also discovered how air (pneumatics) and liquids (hydraulics) can be used to generate force and lift heavy loads.

Room 28 has had an action-packed few weeks!

Our budding scientists have been busy testing out exciting experiments- the Skittles rainbow experiment and Coke & Mentos explosions were definite highlights!

We’ve also been getting active with Kelly Sports, building up our skills in both basketball and football, and putting our creative hats on as we practice test runs for the upcoming Art Exhibition. Stay tuned to see our final masterpieces!
