Kia ora library whānau! A heads up, from 1 July, Beamafilm will no longer be available as a free library service 💔

We know some of you have really enjoyed it, and we're sorry to see it go. Unfortunately, a significant price increase and minimal usage across the board means we simply can no longer afford to offer it.

You've still got a few weeks of free access, so make the most of it!

The good news? There's still plenty to enjoy at your library, books, DVDs, board games and electronics are all available to borrow and take home.

If you'd like to keep streaming films, Beamafilm offers individual subscriptions, or AroVision is a great local alternative worth checking out.

Who knew your library visit could help save three tonnes of batteries from landfill!? Our Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Ōtaki libraries aren’t just great for books, they’re also handy drop off spots for used household batteries ready to be safely recycled.

Thanks to our awesome Kāpiti community, more than three tonnes of batteries have already been diverted from landfill in less than three years. Pretty neat for something that usually sits forgotten in a junk drawer!

Next time you’re popping in for a good read, Makerspace session or wandering the shelves, bring your old batteries along too. Little actions really do add up 🧡

Looking for your next great read? Your fellow library lovers have you covered 📚✨

Julie recently recommended The Nine Lives of Kitty K by Margaret Mills, a fascinating story inspired by the real-life tale of an unsung heroine of the Otago goldfields. If historical fiction is your thing, this sounds like one to add straight to your reading pile.

Reserve a copy now or pop into Waikanae Library before it disappears from the shelf 👀💙
