Did we say fully fenced? Yes, that's right Kāpiti! Add the newly refreshed playground at Ferndale Drive, Waikanae to your adventure list ✨

This neat space now features slides, swings, balance beams, climbing frames, seating, and lots of lovely shade from the surrounding native planting.

With a short walking track and a pond nearby, it’s a great spot for play and a bit of nature exploring with your little ones – you might even spot a pīwakawaka or two. Pop along with your whānau to enjoy this new spot 💙

It's Have Your Say season here at Council, and now we need your help to shape the next thing on the must-do list – the Long-term Plan (LTP). Every three years, Council prepares a LTP that sets out what we'll deliver, what it will cost, and the likely impact on rates.

🔷 Join the LTP chat before midnight, Sunday 26 July 👉🏽 https://haveyoursay.kapiticoast.govt.nz/LTP27-37

Grab a cuppa and take a few minutes to share your thoughts through our online survey, come along to one of our pop-ups or events to chat with a Councillor, and help us develop a practical and affordable plan that delivers for the Kāpiti community.

We know households are feeling the pinch, and your elected councillors agree future rates increases need to be affordable. With limited resources to run the district, we can't do everything at once, so it's important we understand what matters most to our community.

Help us kick off Prioritise Kāpiti right. We'd love to hear from you 💙

All (solar) systems are go, with energy harnessed from Tama-nui-te-rā shining down on Whakarongotai Marae ☀️

A 10-year dream of the Marae Trustees Chairperson, Aunty Lois, is now a reality with a solar power system installed at the marae in Waikanae.

48 solar panels and a 54kWh battery are boosting the capacity of Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai Marae to manaaki whānau and guests in good times, as well as supporting resilience during tough times.

The system means the marae can keep operating during an emergency, such as floods, earthquakes or storms – even when the power grid is down.

Making its home on the roof of the wharekai, it's one of eight buildings across the district to receive solar, through a partnership between Council, Wellington Region Emergency Management Office and EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority)
