Whenuakura School

Whenuakura School Whenuakura School is a decile 4, rural contributing school located in rural Patea. We have provided Primary education for over 125 years.

Our school draws equally from the local farming district and the local town of Patea. We value high expectations for our children and we enjoy positive partnerships with our parents, caregivers, whanau and wider school community.

A huge thank you to Paper4trees for their generous donation of native shrubs to Whenuakura School!
With the support from sponsors, Toi Foundation and OMV, and the wonderful supplying nursery, Te Kahuri Nurseries, we have been able to plant in multiple areas around our school — filling gaps, adding colour and life, and creating a more beautiful environment for our tamariki to enjoy.

We’ve also been able to give our Forest School area some extra love, with new planting helping to make this special outdoor space even more inviting. 🌿🌳🌱

Ngā mihi nui to everyone involved! 💚

Today our Year 6 students headed to Stratford to take on the EPro8 Challenge — and what an awesome experience it was! 💪🔧🧠

They put their problem-solving, teamwork and practical skills to the test, coming away with an impressive 4th place and, even better, qualifying for the EPro8 Finals in New Plymouth next week!

A massive thank you to Mrs Honeyfield for all the hours of practice, training and support with our tamariki and for being there to support the team today. It certainly paid off!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ School Cross Country 2026!

A huge congratulations to all our tamariki who took part in our school cross country today!

It was certainly a super windy day, but everyone showed incredible perseverance, dug deep and pushed through to the finish line. We’re so proud of each and every one of you! 💪❤️

A big thank you to Ian and Sophie Honeyfield for kindly allowing us to use their paddocks today, and for letting us have a practice run through earlier this week to help us prepare. We really appreciate your support!

Now it’s time to rest those legs… next stop: Cluster Cross Country on Monday!

Another incredibly generous business in Rotorua has come onboard and donated a 2hr Ngongotaha Ultimate Express Family Voucher in a powered self drive 4-seat Rail Car.
What an experience! Thank you Rotorua Rail Cruising!

Even though it was a bit too windy to safely have a fire today - there was no stopping the chopping, hammock play and marbles! And the hall was a warm oasis of hot chocolate and clay play for those who need refuge from the chill.

It’s great to see our students independence growing, their ability to assess risk being finely tuned, and the team work and cooperation reaching a new level of awesome. 🙌
