On Monday, a group of our students joined forces with Kakaramea School and Whenuakura School to form a rugby league team for the Graham West Rugby League Tournament held at Hāwera Primary School.

The students also had the privilege of meeting Graham West himself and spending a few moments talking with him, which was a special experience for everyone involved.

A huge mihi goes to Kyvarn Kelsen, Jeremiaz Fa'amasino-Harrison, and Nate Baylis for coaching and supporting our students, and for giving them the opportunity to take part in the tournament.

All of our students represented the school with pride, played extremely well, and thoroughly enjoyed their day.

Kia ora whānau,

Over the past couple of years, Pātea Area School has been working diligently to lift our regular attendance. Regular attendance means students are attending school 90% of the time or more.

The Ministry has recently confirmed our attendance data from last term, and I am pleased to report that our results are trending upward and we are closing in on our goal of 50% regular attendance for this year.

We have seen a significant shift since 2024, and a big part of this success is the increased support and engagement from our whānau and wider community.

Ngā mihi nui for your ongoing support — let’s keep the momentum going!
