Mauri ora e te whānau — look at this taonga glowing under the moonlight

Some places don’t just sit on the land - they breathe with it.

Standing here at Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu you can feel the heartbeat of our tīpuna in the hills, the stillness of the evening, and the quiet strength of the whenua holding our stories.

But what makes this place truly powerful isn’t just the name or the landscape.
It’s the people who show up.
The ones who carry posts, lift signs, share kōrero, protect the mauri, and walk this journey together.

Because when we move as a collective -
when hands, hearts, and whakapapa align -
the mahi becomes lighter, the vision becomes clearer, and the taonga becomes stronger.

This photo is a reminder that:
Our whenua thrives when we stand together.
Our stories live when we share the load.
Our future grows when we uplift one another.

Tonight, under the full moon, the mauri feels bright.
The kaupapa feels alive.
And the path forward feels guided by more than just us — but by every ancestor who walked these hills before.

Mauri ora, whānau. Keep walking together. Keep protecting what matters.
He taonga tuku iho. He kaupapa kotahi.

He rā whakahirahira - A day of reclaiming what is ours

Some days on the whenua feel bigger than the moment itself.

On this day, three uri of Tamatea Pōkaiwhenua -Paora, Henare, and Rossy - stood side by side on the hills of their ancestors. Boots in the grass, wind on their backs, and whakapapa in their bones. Together, they lifted the first signs that mark the pathway back to our taonga
Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu.

It wasn’t just about putting posts in the ground.
It was about identity.
Mana.
Putting our story back where it belongs.

And they didn’t stand alone. Tamariki watched. Whānau gathered. The whenua itself seemed to breathe a little deeper. Because when descendants return to uplift what their tīpuna left behind, the whole landscape feels it.

This is what kotahitanga looks like - not grand speeches, not big ceremonies, but people turning up, working together, and taking the first steps to reclaim what has always been ours.

This is how we protect our taonga.
This is how we honour Tamatea.
This is how we move forward - as a collective.
