🇼🇸🇼🇸🇼🇸We closed Samoan Language Week with a wonderful celebration of performances from our classrooms, staff, and community. It was fantastic to see everyone come together to share language, culture, and pride through song, dance, art and performance.

A huge fa'afetai tele lava to Mrs Masina and Mrs Zandi for their hard work, dedication, and organisation throughout the week. Their efforts helped create meaningful learning experiences and memorable celebrations for our school community. We also extend our thanks to all students, staff, whānau, and community members who contributed to making the week such a success. 🇼🇸🇼🇸🇼🇸

Apologies everyone as it sounds like my newsletter was confusing. We are definately having our normal Samoa Language Week assembly this Friday followed by a community kai. We would love to have you join us.
We are not having an Ake Runga assembly, which is usually on week 8 and where we hand out awards. We will hand those awards out in syndicate meetings.

Rooms 4, 5, 6 and 7 travelled by bus to Te Papa to explore the Taiao exhibition.
Our older students also visited The Scale of Our War, Gallipoli exhibition, where they deepened their learning about the experiences of soldiers during World War I.

It was a rich day of learning, reflection and connection outside the classroom. Ka pai to our tamariki for representing Tairangi School with pride.

Wellington south of Tawa remains under a red weather warning for both strong wind and strong rain today.

We are north of Tawa and remain under an orange weather watch.

Following my safety assessment this morning I can confirm there is no surface flooding and very little wind damage (1 small branch on 1 road) and so Tairangi School will be open today.

However, if you have any concerns about your child attending school today, especially in regards to travel, please email or call the school as usual to let us know about their absence. Children will be marked as a Justified absence for today.

We also know some schools in our region have decided to close. Each school will make their own decision based on their circumstances and we all have good lines of communication, including their reasons. Please follow the instructions of the school/s your children attend whcih may be different.

Stay safe.

Wellington south of Tawa is expected to be under a red weather warning for both strong wind and strong rain from early this evening until late Tuesday night.

We are north of Tawa and are under an orange weather watch overnight. If overnight we also fall under the red weather warning, we will close. At this stage under an orange weather warning we intend to open school as normal tomorrow, however this will depend upon a safety assessment before 7am tomorrow morning. I will send a message out to the entire community at 7:15am to confirm if we are open or closed.

While I can make an assessment of the school site, I will not be able to assess the safety between your homes and school. If you believe it is unsafe to travel to school tomorrow, please email or call the school as usual to let us know.

Please stay safe and you will hear from me again in the morning.
