Big shout out to our Fire Brigade Sky tower team. Saturday marks another momentous day of hundreds of Firefighters climbing the Sky tower after spending many hours fundraising for blood cancer NZ.

Yesterday, members of the NZPFU took to Titahi Bay for a "Strike for Good" beach clean-up, clearing rubbish to ensure the Bay was pristine for ANZAC Day.

Local artist Claire Clark was there to capture the moment. Thank you Claire for the sketch of our members in action. 🎨🇳🇿

Fire and Emergency New Zealand has been alerted to more than 150 weather-related events in Wellington this morning.
The calls relate to flooding, flooding into properties and landslides across Vogeltown, Mornington, Newtown, Berhampore, Kingston, Island Bay and surrounding areas.
Our Regional Coordination Centre has also been stood up in response to the weather.
• If you see rising water, do not wait for official warnings
• Call 111 if life or safety is threatened
• Stay out of floodwater. Trying to drive or walk through floodwater puts your life at risk, and risking the lives of those who come to your rescue.
• Don’t wait for emergency mobile alerts or other official warnings: if you see flood waters trust your sense and act immediately.

Good afternoon Porirua, we hope you are all managing to stay warm and dry in this weather today. We are expecting further severe weather throughout the day at approximately 2pm and 8pm ⚠

To help you prepare, we have made a supply of bags available at the Sievers Grove Nursery where there is sand available. These will be ready from 1pm today.

The nursery is located at 106 Sievers Grove, Rānui. Please bring your own shovel with you.

It's been a long night for Firefighters across the Manawatu District - and our career crews.

Operations at the JFK fire are still underway with 2 aerial appliances on scene and heavy machinery. Appliances have come from far across the district including appliances from Whanganui, Paraparaumu and Porirua. Crews will be continuing to work through the night to fully extinguish this fire.
