👎 These unnecessary responses reduce availability for genuine emergencies and can increase risk to communities.
👍 Unwanted responses can be minimised by letting us know before lighting a fire. That way when someone sees the smoke and calls 111, our emergency calltakers can quickly check that it's your fire they're reporting.

It's going to be warm and windy in parts of inland Otago over the next couple of days so please hit "pause" on any plans for outdoor fires. And if you've lit a fire in the last week or two, remember to go back and check it's completely out.

🚒Our annual can appeal will be taking place again so start getting your cans and dry food donations ready.

⌚️Thursday, 4th December from 6pm - 8pm - keep an ear out for blaring sirens bringing collectors to gather the goods.

📍Pop your donations somewhere that is easily accessible at the edge of your property/driveway (like a front fence or letterbox).

🤝We'd love to see our community coming together and helping those in need.
