💰 Money Month Tip #3 - Building your financial buffer, one small step at a time.

We know. “Save more money” isn’t exactly groundbreaking advice so here’s some tangible ways to actually start building that buffer, even when things are tight:

🔍 Find your leaks first
Before you save anything, spend one week tracking where your money actually goes. Not where you think it goes - where it actually goes. Most people find at least one or two things that surprise them.

🏦 Open a separate account and name it
Psychologically, money in a named account (“Emergency Fund” or even “Oh No Fund” 😄) is much harder to spend than money sitting in your everyday account. Out of sight really does mean out of mind.

⚡ Automate a tiny amount
Even $5 or $10 a week transferred automatically on payday means you never have to think about it - and it adds up to $260–$520 over a year without feeling a thing.

🛒 One swap a week
One packed lunch instead of bought. One coffee made at home. One less subscription. Small swaps consistently beat big sacrifices that don’t stick.

💳 Use windfalls wisely
Tax refund, birthday money, unexpected cash - even putting half of it aside rather than spending it all builds your buffer faster than any weekly transfer.

And if you want personalised support figuring out what works for your situation - our free financial mentoring service is here. Real people, real help, no judgement 💛
