πŸ“Œ Delayed FB Post

🌿✨ On Tuesday 18th March, WRC had the absolute pleasure of welcoming some very special manuhiri from Te Ahikaa Indigenous Solutions into our whare! πŸ’šπŸ™Œ

Te Ahikaa is a powerhouse of awhi in our community, offering kaupapa Māori services like 🌿 ACC Rongoā Māori, 🌟 Te Pai Tawhiti, πŸ’« Te Pae Tata, and πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ ACC Haerenga Motuhake β€” just to name a few! πŸ’₯

We were stoked to host our whanaunga with plenty of good whanaungatanga vibes, hearty kōrero πŸ’¬, and of course, some delicious kai to share πŸ½οΈπŸ˜‹

It was a beautiful day of connection and collaboration 🀝 β€” we look forward to walking alongside our extended whaanau at Te Ahikaa again soon! 🧑

🌱 Can You Help Us Uplift a Space for Our Tamariki? 🌱

Kia ora whaanau πŸ’›

We’re reaching out to our amazing community to see if anyone can help us fix up the playground mats at our Transition House 🏑 The current mats are old, hard, and not the softest landing spot for our precious tamariki πŸ§’πŸ½πŸ‘ΆπŸ½

We’re on the lookout for bark 🌲 or a soft-fall alternativeβ€”and maybe someone who knows someone who might be able to help with the supply or mahi involved πŸ™πŸ½ Whether you’re handy with playground renovations πŸ”¨, have a heart for whaanau πŸ’–, or just love helping out where you can 🌟, we’d love to hear from you! πŸ’›

This playground isn’t open to the publicβ€”it’s a special space for the children who live with their māmā in our WRC Transition House πŸ›– A space for healing, laughter, and safe playβ€”and we want to make it even better for them 🎠✨

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please get in touch or come see us at: πŸ“ 17 McNally Road, Pukekohe 🏑

Ngaa mihi nui in advance πŸ™ŒπŸ½ Let’s work together to create a softer, safer play space for our tamariki πŸ’›

✨ Whaanau Resource Centre – A Place for Everyone ✨

No matter what you’re going through in life, our doors are always open. πŸ’™ Here, we welcome all with kindness, understanding, and a belief that everyone deserves a fresh start. We come from all walks of life, but at the heart of our whaanau is a space for forgiveness, light, and love.

This past week has reminded us how short life truly is. It’s made us reflect on how we want to liveβ€”with purpose, with love, and with a heart open to others.

πŸ’‘ Hate does not drive out hateβ€”love does.
🌟 Darkness does not drive out darknessβ€”light does.

At WRC, we choose to show love and light to all, creating a safe and strong community where our tamariki and whaanau can thrive. Together, we can build a future where no one is left behind and where everyone has the chance to shine.

This video clip captures a lesson in humanity that aligns with our visionβ€”a world where we lift each other up, where kindness prevails, and where we all shine bright like diamonds. πŸ’Žβœ¨

🎢 They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say I’ve lost my mind
I don’t care, I don’t care, so call me crazy
We can live in a world that we design 🎢

Let’s choose hope, love, and connection. πŸ’™

Kia ora e te whaanau,

We are grateful for all the messages of aroha for our dear Anesa Toia. We know that she would want us to continue the mahi and to see us succeed in making sure that we keep working for a better future for all tamariki and whaanau to flourish and grow towards the best version of themselves. ❀️

As part of this ongoing mahi, our WRC Koha Shed will be open tomorrow from 10 AM – 12 PM. If you or someone you know could use some extra support, feel free to come by and see what’s available. Please bring your own bags and take only what you need so that we can share the aroha with as many whaanau as possible.

Mauri ora, and see you there! 😊✨

πŸ’” Moe mai rā e te rangatira, Anesa Toia πŸ’”

πŸ™ It is with deep sadness that we, the team at Whaanau Resource Centre O Pukekohe, share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our former Practice Lead Senior Social Worker, Anesa Toia.

πŸ’” Arohamai whaanau, we only just learned of her passing yesterday, and today, our dear friend, co-worker, sister, and mentor will be laid to rest at Pakanae Urupā up north.

🀍 Anesa was loved by allβ€”our staff, external agencies, the whaanau she served, and the Pukekohe community.

🌿 She carried her mahi with love and mana, and her impact will never be forgotten.

✨ Her wairua will continue to inspire us to serve the whaanau she held so dearly in her heart.

πŸ’™ Anesa was devoted to her darling Ray, her beloved tamariki, and her precious mokopuna.

πŸ•Š We send them all our aroha and deepest condolences during this difficult time.

🀲 Grief is never easy, but we hope they are wrapped in a korowai of aroha, always remembering how she loved them with all her being.

πŸ“œ In November 2024, Anesa shared these powerful words with us:
"Should I die tomorrow or have already gone and our connection holds value for you, I urge you to confront and transcend your grief. Allow my memory to influence positive choices, not paralyzing sorrow. May my presence continue to inspire strength, personal growth, and daily striving for excellence rather than stagnation. I would rather witness your triumphs from afar than return to guide you toward resilience."

❀️ Rest in love, e hoa. We will continue your legacy of strength, growth, and striving for excellence.

πŸ•― Ka maumahara tonu mātou ki a koe, ā, ka aroha hoki mātou ki a koe ake tonu atu.

🌺 Moe mai rā, e te rangatira. πŸ•ŠπŸ’™

Kia ora e te whaanau,

We hope you're all having a good start to the new year! Just a couple of 'BIG NOTICES' from 'little us.'

The Koha Shed will next be open on Thursday, 13th February 2025, from 10am to 12pmπŸ’›

A huge thank you to all our incredible volunteers who give their time and energy to support our team. We appreciate you all so much!🌺

Gentle reminder whaanau, when you come to our whare please do not leave rubbish lying around and respect our community space. We respect you and can't continue working hard to support you, your whaanau and the wider community if you do not help us to look after our place!

Together, we are strongerβ€”always better when we work together whaanau. Kia kaha!πŸ’ͺ🏽

🌱 Ngaa Mihi Nui to Our Generous Whaanau! 🌱

A big thank you to a wonderful mother and her 4yr old daughter from our community who visited us to share the beautiful produce they had grown in their little home garden! πŸ…πŸ₯¬ Their generosity and aroha warmed our hearts and inspired us deeply. πŸ’›

At WRC, we believe in the power of whaanau and community coming together, and this act of kindness has encouraged us to take the next step in growing our very own marakai (garden) at McNally. 🌾✨ Once it’s flourishing, it will be a space where all our whaanau can come and help themselves to fresh produce whenever they need.

We can’t wait to get started and will keep you updated on the progress. To the amazing mother and daughter who inspired this visionβ€”thank you for sharing not just your kai, but also your manaakitanga and community spirit. 🌟
