They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.

This morning several of our Board Members, Councillors and business owners attended the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs Breakfast.

Brad Olsen (NZ economics commentator) spoke about the international, national and local economies and the opportunities available in the Waimakariri community.

We also heard about the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs programme. We can be proud that the programme has supported nearly three times the contracted number of young people into sustainable employment this year!

Have your say about Parking …….

🚗 Help Us Get Parking Right – Have Your Say!

Parking and traffic affect all of us — whether you’re driving to work, walking the kids to school, cycling to the shops, or running a local business.

We’re updating our proposed Parking and Traffic Bylaw 2026 to better reflect how our district is changing and growing — and we want your feedback.

Our current bylaw was adopted in 2019. Since then, we’ve seen new challenges and expectations around mobility access, overnight parking, heavy vehicles, EV charging, and modern transport needs. This update is about making travel safer, fairer, and simpler for everyone.

The proposed changes include:
✔ Clearer parking rules across urban and rural areas
✔ Residents’ parking zones and permit options
✔ Overnight parking rules in selected areas
✔ Spaces for EV charging, carpooling and mobility access
✔ Traffic controls such as one-way streets and turn bans
✔ Stronger, more consistent enforcement tools

These updates aim to improve road safety, protect public spaces, support businesses, and ensure fair access for residents and visitors.

Now it’s over to you. Your feedback will help us get the balance right.

🗓 Consultation is open now and closes 9 March 2026.
