Congratulations to Ralph Lonsdale on receiving another 2 year gold bar for a total of 41 years of service last night at the Southbridge Volunteer Fire Brigade Honours night. Ralph was our former Chief Fire Officer at Richmond and now is a member of the Southbridge Brigade.
Ralph's dedication has been truly inspiring, and the massive effort in supporting both our communities is deeply appreciated.

Call 📟 # 221 - 23/08/2026 - 18:12 Vegetation Fire RICH331, APPL4871, BRIG5071, NELS2111. Last nights call showed the importance about never playing with lighters or matches.

Playing around with a lighter ended up with a hedge on fire which quickly grew out of control. Thankfully we were able to contain it before it threatened the house.

Today’s our birthday! 🎉

Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1878 and 148 years later we are still going strong!
As we acknowledge this achievement, we honour the dedication of every member who has helped to shape this brigade’s legacy. Generations of camaraderie, achievements and commitment continue with us today. The collective efforts of past and present members remain as our foundation, with traditions and values reinforcing our dedication. This anniversary is a time to reflect, recognize our milestones, and acknowledge the collective effort of all involved.

🚨 The siren sounds a few times during July. One lucky Officer ticked us over 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ calls for the year! 2nd half of the year is fully underway with our community risk team actioning 4 home fire safety visits and installing smoke alarms and one preschool visit!

Tuesdays training had a slower pace than usual. Our Annual Mike Davies night. This is a night where we celebrate a pass member and his love for games! A night where new and past members come together and share tales over a savoury and a drink and play games. Interesting techniques were used, scores were tallied and the Trophy was awarded. Congratulations to FF Goodwin 🏆🥇

Why the siren sounded 🚒🚨

📟 Call # 177 - 10:53 - RICH331 STOK221 - roof lifting.
Two dwellings suffered damage from a mini tornado 🌪️ that came through Richmond today.
Thankfully no one was hurt and we were able to secure the roof for the occupants.

Stay safe out there in the wild weather 🌦️ ⛈️
