Occasionally I have to be a bit political.

My life time of experience in farming started at a young age but as I grew up I started to feel the negative energy within the industry and learned what I didn't want to get involved in.

Nature has a very different way of doing things and this is my life choice.

One of my top gripes is the horrendous ways we treat these beautiful souls in the hellish journeys to their slaughter or overseas transport to God Knows where. The live shipments through days of confined suffering, in their own excrement to reach their destination must be acknowledged as sentient beings; that means they feel emotionally, they feel pain just like you and me.

The manipulation of words from politicians to fool the public, the lies dreamt up to shield the truth from the public and then the denial from many of us who make choices at the supermarket without a moment's thought on what suffering hides behind the cellophane.

So, with the voters being netted in by "the leaders" speaking of all the good that they do but never mentioning the bad they need to change in their own agenda, let alone the other political groups, we need to put our feet on the ground and stand determined and make the voices of the animals heard. Do we really want to live in this thinking kind of world, which will only get worse if we don't speak up now.

There is a meeting on the 9th of August please follow the link if you would like to go and ask the questions;

-What are your policies about live transportation of animals.

-Will the standards that you set for the slaughterhouses be good enough and maintained and improved, implemented and governed properly.

Or simply ask the question are you aware, do you partake, do you make conscious decisions about your purchases, these are the questions which will highlight the integrity of those wanting our vote, to be empowered and rule, and to be our voice.

Let's hold them accountable.

Join Hon Shane Jones as he tours the country at a public meeting at 2pm, Sunday, 9 August at the Motueka Memorial Hall.

Can you help?

Hi Terri! ☺️

I'm looking for a knowledgeable home for a handicapped dove that I have raised since being turfed out of the nest.

She had some type of damage to her lower beak and it eventually dropped off.

She has to eat out of a very deep bowl of food to be able to scoop it into her mouth and she has to have her top beaked filed every two weeks otherwise it grows into a curve and she is unable to eat.

Because of this, I have to keep her in a caged area, but she is desperate to fly and needs a large contained area . She is quite tame. She will not survive free because of her specialized eating. I would Love to see her in a large area where she can have a fly and have a lot more room or even a mate.

Can you help please ?
Please PM me if you can help. Tasman District.

Mr Edwin is enjoying the breakfast view of Tasman today. Eddie is our house cat, well actually Nadja Stöger cat. She stayed with us as a Wwoofer. When we got Eddie as a kitten he was a hit. She loved him in the months she was here, and we know she will be back, Eddie will be forever Nadjas.

Strong, Practical Woofers / Help X Exchange Travellers Wanted! 💪🐐 Or are you local with the skills and would like to volunteer you time to help?

Are you travelling through New Zealand in your campervan, or looking for a unique work exchange experience?

Hidden Valley Farm Sanctuary, nestled on the beautiful Takaka Hill, is looking for strong, hardworking people to help with an exciting sanctuary project.

The Job: We're removing and relocating a fence to create a safe new goat area for our Sanctuary Petting Farm. This is hands-on outdoor work, so you'll need to be physically fit, practical, and happy doing manual labour. Fencing experience is a bonus but not essential if you're willing to learn and work hard.

What You'll Receive 🌿 Bed and board, this could be in our private camping hut or stay in your own campervan. 🥘 Basic breakfast and lunch with a home cooked meal is included .

🐐 Time with our friendly rescued farm animals. 🌄 A peaceful stay on our 400-acre wilderness farm sanctuary surrounded by nature.

Explore the Region on Your day off. We're perfectly situated almost halfway between Motueka, the Abel Tasman National Park, and Golden Bay, making Hidden Valley Farm Sanctuary an ideal base to explore.
Nearby attractions include:
• The spectacular Takaka Hill walks. • Harwoods Hole.
• The local cave systems.
• The famous Via Ferrata climbing adventure.
• The beautiful Abel Tasman National Park.
• Saturday markets in Takaka.
• Sunday markets in Motueka.
• Swimming holes, beaches, art galleries, cafés, and some of New Zealand's most stunning scenery.

When: Starting 5 August, with flexible dates until the project is completed.

If you're strong, reliable, enjoy working outdoors, and would like to make a real difference for rescued animals while experiencing one of New Zealand's most beautiful regions, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send us a message telling us a little about yourself, your practical skills, and when you're available.
