SCAM ALERTS FOR ALL TYPES OF SCAMS
WHĀNAU — Please help our pakeke stay safe from scams: online, by phone, by text, by social media, by mail, and in-person. Scams try to trick people into giving money or personal information and can take many forms including phishing, fake websites, romance scams, invoice fraud, social‑media marketplace scams, and SMS scams.

What to do right now
Don’t trust unexpected contact; if someone contacts you out of the blue, treat it as suspicious.

Don’t share PINs or passwords with anyone who calls, texts, or messages you.

If you don’t know the caller, don’t pick up; note their number and call back only after checking with whānau or someone you trust.

Verify requests for money or access by contacting the organisation using a number from their official website, not the number the caller gives you.

Keep devices updated and use strong, unique passwords to reduce risk.

What can Organisations working with Pakeke do right now?
Make SCAMS a permanent Agenda Item for all Pakeke Hui. This is important.

Please share: Scams are REAL, CAUSE HARM and EMBARRASSMENT. KAUA E WHAKAMA SCAMS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE. Dont let this keep you quiet. Tell someone you trust.

Emergency and reporting contacts
