The tractors are up clearing the roads.

Update, 11am: Pembroke Road is now open all the way to the Plateau car park. Please take care, be patient with other travellers and HAVE FUN!

Update: Manaia Road is open with caution and Pembroke Road is open up until the Mountain Lodge. We aim to have the road open to the Plateau around 11am. Drive safely!

Up early this morning for a massive day of meetings and workshops! It looks like it's going to be a stunning day too.

First on the agenda is our extraordinary council meeting, where we'll decide whether to put a proposal forward as part of the "head start" amalgamation process. If we do, the next big question is whether we submit as one council or as two.

I never imagined that when I stood for re-election last year, I'd be helping make a decision of this magnitude. Nor did I expect we'd have such a short timeframe to consider something that will have long-term implications for our communities.

It's one of those moments that reminds you just how varied and unpredictable local government can be. Whatever decision we make today, it's important that we give it the careful thought it deserves.
