Kates book recommendation is
The Brotherband Chronicles Series by John Flanagan.
In the Viking-inspired society of Skandia, boys reaching a certain age must undergo three intense months of mandatory training. The boys are then divided into distinct rival teams (brotherbands) that compete against each other in seamanship, weapons handling, and battle tactics. However they are more than just training squads, a brotherband functions as a tightly knit brotherhood and an alternative family that stays together forever.

Hal Mikkelson is half Araluen and half Skandian. He’s all outcast.
Hal and his crew of misfit teens form a loyal brotherband bond and use their ‘outcast’ traits to consistently defend the weak, outsmart the villains and forge friendships that nothing can sever.

This is a nine book series aimed at young adult readers but can be enjoyed by all ages.

Nothing better than a new book with an awesome cover!
(Even though you should never judge a book by it’s cover 😉)

Lara's book recommendation is “The Cause Of Death” By Dr Cynric Temple-Camp.

"The book talks about why he moved away from being a doctor to become a pathologist and some of the stories of death and murder in New Zealand. It was a really good read and filled with a lot of interesting people and stories.

Staff book recommendations 📚📖

Nicola's recommendation is Lady Anne Glenconner.
“I first saw Lady Anne Glenconner on the Graham Norton Show and loved her hilarious anecdote about her honeymoon. Her books are filled with similar stories about her interesting life, including being a Lady in Waiting to Princess Margaret and accompanying her on her trips overseas. Despite a privileged life she has had to overcome some significant challenges along the way. She began writing her books at 87 years of age and they are bursting with common sense advice on how to navigate life and see the silver linings during difficult times. Most of all I love her books because they are inspiring, witty and always guaranteed to give you a laugh.”
