🚒 Meet the Brigade 🚒

Joubert van Tonder
Role: Qualified Firefighter & Health and Safety Guru
Years of Service: 4 years

By day, Joubert works as a Business Development Manager, Supply Chain at Napier Port.

When asked why he joined the brigade, his answer was simple:

“My wife liked the idea of me in a fireman uniform…” 😂

Four years later, we’re pleased to say he’s still here and continues to be a valued member of the Taradale Volunteer Fire Brigade, helping keep our crew and community safe.

Thanks for everything you do, Jo! 👏🚒

What a weekend for the Taradale Sky Tower Challenge team 🫡🔥

This year the team broke our brigade fundraising record, raising an incredible $23.5K the most ever raised by the brigade! An amazing effort that helped contribute towards the event’s massive $2.4 million raised for Blood Cancer New Zealand ❤️

The team also brought home a bronze medal, with Nelly finishing 3rd in the Open Donned & Started category 🥉

Every single member absolutely smashed it with both fundraising and climbing the tower which is no small feat: 🏃‍♂️ 1103 steps,🧯 25kgs of gear, 🏢 51 floors

We are incredibly proud of the whole crew and want to say a huge thank you to every single person who donated and supported the team along the way. You all played a massive part in helping raise so much money for so many New Zealanders.

Until next year 🫡🗼🚒

🚒 Meet the Brigade 🚒

This week we’ve got our token Irishman… Ronan Galvin 🇮🇪

Role: QFF / Current STC
Service: 5 years
Day hustle: All rounder at Pope Electrical ⚡️

Ronan joined the brigade wanting to give back to the community that has given so much to him and Eva his daughter. Over the years the family-oriented culture at the station has turned teammates into great mates, and the brigade into a second family.

Great to have you on the crew mate 👏🏻🚒

Huge congratulations to the three members of the brigade who competed in today’s ASICS Hawke’s Bay Marathon 👏

Two of our crew smashed out the 10km course, while another took on the half marathon, awesome effort by all involved! 🏃‍♂️🔥

All while other brigade members were busy climbing stairs fundraising for the Sky Tower Challenge at Farmers Napier! And somehow Hibbs managed to do both 😬💪

It’s awesome to see the crew out there supporting local events, fundraising, and challenging themselves in different ways. Well done team! 🚒👏

Billy was approached on the street by two brigade members during his rugby league off-season. Looking for something to occupy his time, he decided to give the brigade a go. 👏

Today we recognise International Firefighters’ Day 🔥🚒

A day to honour the dedication, courage, and commitment of firefighters here in Taradale and right across the world. Our brigade is made up of everyday people who drop what they’re doing to respond when our community needs us most whether that’s a fire, medical emergency, or helping keep people safe.

We’re proud to stand side by side with crews everywhere, remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and acknowledging the support of our families, employers, and community who make what we do possible ❤️

From training nights to callouts at all hours, this team is always ready.

Thank you for your continued support Taradale 👏
