We are pleased to welcome our newest members to the Youth Council. Representing Waiouru-Waimarino ward.

A well attended swearing in ceremony as well as WWYA’s first Youth Council meeting with Cathy McCartney held 12 May at Ohakune Council Chambers.

We look forward to seeing Ambassadors striving and achieving through Ruapehu Youth Council this year.

Applications for this year have been extended until Thursday 25th FEB! Are you, or someone you know, interested in being the youth voice at the Council table? It’s an exciting year to join Youth Council as we’ve made some big changes and have lots planned but we need committed youth aged 12 – 24 to participate in being the youth voice for our District.

Youth Councillors are paid between $33 – $65 (dependant on their role) per meeting and are expected to attend one meeting per month.

We hope that our Youth Councillors will participate in excursions such as Festival for the Future to grow as local leaders and young change makers.

Another year of Ruapehu Youth Council is upon us and are looking for enthusiastic, driven, local Youth between the ages of 12 and 24 years with a genuine passion for their community to become Ruapehu Youth Councilors for 2021.

Youth Ambassadors can expect to take part in some amazing events during the year, meet great new people, and lead and contribute to meaningful projects, strategies and initiatives that will make a very real difference to the lives of young people in Ruapehu and the wider community.

Morena everyone.

As most of you will know, by midday at 12pm today we will be transitioning into Level 2.

I would like to inform you that Youth Council Meeting (WWYA) at 4PM Ohakune Chambers will still be running tonight!

The room will be spaced out to carry out safe distancing.

If you do not feel comfortable to attend there will be zoom link created if you wish to view from home.
