How do we overcome the housing crisis?

One important key to battling this ngarara is sharing our insights with other Māori entities.

So Stacey, our Noho Hūrokuroku (Sustaining Tenancies) Coordinator was invited to the recent “Ready to Rent” wānanga held by Te Korowai Roopu Tautoko Inc

She shared some tips on navigating rental applications while letting people know how Te Noho Hūrokuroku (Sustaining Tenancies) can help our whānau stay housed.

So we will keep working with rōpū such as Te Korowai for our whānau.

If you are worried about your tenancy, if you’re struggling to stay on top of things, or need support with your landlord, Stacey is here to help.

Reach out to Stacey for a confidential chat at [email protected], or PM us.

Kia ora Whānau

Anei for those of you joining us online or in person tonight.

Nau mai Haere mai whānau

The biggest fear!

Is the fear of doing nothing when we know we need to. The fear of loosing ourselves or our whānau.

We have so many whānau that call us in emergencies, when someone has passed, when they need tautoko to grieve, when they are not coping with life.

Why wait?

Let's be proactive and talk now before we need this kind of tautoko.

No matter what we will be here.

Make you a priority, make your time count for something positive, make no excuses.

Arohanui
See you if you arrive

Ngā mihi
Te Hapori Ora Whānau

TĀNE ORA - Wānanga tuatoru, Term-3, 2022

Tonight's 'Tāne Ora' pikitia prompted a conversation about bullying.
We explored Bullies as tortured souls, fractured and fragmented by their own sense of not belonging, feeling rejected, and being isolated as children. The large 'Sticky Note' stuck on the tāne's back acknowledges the hidden abuse the afflicted often carry into adulthood.

We then explored the outward blame and assault Bullies project on others to feel better and relieved from their powerlessness and pain.

This kōrero was not meant to justify bullying or abusive behaviour, nor make it right… but to create awareness that disenfranchising a child's power is devastating and, simply put, "hurt people, hurt people".

As wellbeing practitioners, learning to see 'soulfully' the whakapapa of a person's trauma is key to assisting their well-being journey and healing the many rifts within society that disconnect people from each other.

It was a fantastic wānanga, and we thank the tāne for having this conversation and for sharing their lived experiences with us.

Until following Monday - MAURI ORA!

TĀNE ORA - Term 3, 2022

Kia Ora Tāne ma.

Ngā mihi for a beautiful and thought-provoking evening of giving and sharing. This pikitia was inspired by another artist's work and spoke powerfully into our space.

Finding our authentic self is a journey of many steps and the shedding of many layers. The experience is often daunting as it is frightening but worth every bit, the effort.

Tonight we unveiled portions of ourselves in preparation for our journey together. Over the next 10 wānanga, we will unveil more to get at the core of our being. And from there?... well, only you can tell that story. 😁

Until following Monday, Tāne ma, stay safe and we look forward to reconnecting next wānanga - MAURI ORA!
