The STL team believe you may find the attached Checkpoint report rather ironic.

How can the Regional Council penalise recreational anglers and divers for alleged issues with the marine environment when they are a major polluter themselves?

Even more outrageous is that the STL team have now discovered the Regional Council have granted themselves a Resource Consent which allows them to discharge a far higher level of pollutants from the Port, than Tauranga City Council. Note this also means all of us, as businesses operating in the Tauranga City Council region.

The STL team we consider it is totally unacceptable to effectively penalise recreational anglers and divers for the POT and Regional Councils benefit? What do you think?

Tauranga port hasn't done what's required to get consent for part of its stormwater system, which pours directly into the harbour, since the Resource Managem...

Confirming that this is not just a BOP issue, but one that impacts on recreational anglers and divers nationwide.

Northland and Marlborough now in the firing line as well, others in the pipeline.......

Please note that the team at 'Stop The Lockout' welcome members from around the country, this is certainly not just a local issue.

Potential fishing closures in Northland After years of bearing witness to declining fish stocks and inshore trawling a Maori Trust in the Bay of Plenty has taken the initiative to protect indigenous biodiversity. As a result of a complex legal process the Court of Appeal recently ruled that Regional...

This is why we need your support!

It is confirmed that all customary fishing will also be excluded.
It should be emphasised that a majority of those living on Motiti object to the proposals.
They have even gone as far as taking adverts in the local press to confirm this.

COMMERCIAL FISHING WILL NOT BE RESTRICTED!!!!!

The Regional Council have indicated that whilst ALL recreational take will be excluded, they have no ability to restrict commercial fishing!

HOW CAN ANYONE CONTEMPLATE A FISHING RESERVE THAT STILL PERMITS COMMERCIAL FISHING?

WHERE ARE LEGASEA WHEN YOU NEED THEM?
It would appear that the organisations that many of us donate funds to in order to protect our recreational angling interests, may have been blindsided by this lockout proposal.
It would be great to know what they are doing regarding this proposal, beyond just consulting with the Regional Council concerning the lockout terms?

This page has been provided to give all anglers and divers the opportunity to keep up to date with the implementation of the fishing lockout at Motiti.

We are concerned that despite 55,000 PEOPLE expressing concern about the proposed lockout following a Facebook post by a local charter operator, very little has happened since. More Info @ https://stopthelockout.kiwi/

The lockout applies to the area on the attached map, outlined by a green line.

You are invited to join this group and are encouraged to have your say.

IF THIS IS OF ANY CONCERN TO YOU, PLEASE SHARE THIS POST TO ALL ANGLERS YOU KNOW AND HAVE YOUR SAY HERE.

Sign the Petition here: https://www.change.org/stopthelockoutnz

Included in this area, are Astrolabe Reef, Schooner, Plate Island, Okaparu Reefs and Brewis Shoals. This is over half of the reef structure that recreational anglers can easily access from Tauranga and Maketu. It represents some of the most productive fishing structure safely accessed by local recreational anglers.

THE BAY OF PLENTY REGIONAL COUNCIL IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON IMPLEMENTING THE CLOSURE IN 2020.
