Just BeCause projects will be screening another stimulating documentary soon, but in the meantime did you know...

A recent report from the Royal Society of New Zealand shows that emissions from agriculture make up almost half of New Zealand’s gross greenhouse gas emissions, and this is mainly due to methane produced by cows and sheep. Wow.

The report goes on to say reducing absolute emissions substantially will be challenging “unless there was a strategic decision to reduce the reliance on meat and milk production for the growth of New Zealand’s economy”.

Now thats food for thought....

We can highly recommend watching this Norwegian documentary series, Sweatshop: Dead Cheap Fashion. The episodes are only 10 mins long. Its an on the ground look at garment factories and workers lives in Cambodia.

Something we learnt at friday nights screening of Just Eat It, is that as a nation NZ wastes $872 Million a year on food that we buy and then throw uneaten - that is enough to provide lunches for ALL school age children for 3 Years!!! How can this happen?!

Settling in to watch Just Eat It - a film about food waste. What an informative and eye opening look at the staggering amount of food waste generated today. Filmmakers Jen and Grant take us with them on their journey to live only on food that would otherwise be thrown away, and is both humorous and shocking.
