It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our colleague Matthew, who passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Matthew started his St John career as cadet and then volunteer in Te Aroha, where he has remained living with his family.

Matthew was a highly respected Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at Matamata Station. He will be remembered for the kindness, compassion, and genuine care he showed to his patients, colleagues, and everyone he met. He brought a positive outlook to those around him and made a lasting impact on our people and the communities he served.

If you are able to help Matthew’s whanau, here is the link to Give a Little Page https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/matthews-broken-heart

Kia kaha, Matthew – rere noa tō tātou hoa.
Fly free, our friend. You will be deeply missed.

Helping our family during our darkest times.

🚑 Welcome Claire to Te Aroha Ambulance Station! 🚑

We are pleased to welcome Claire to Te Aroha Ambulance Station, where she has recently been appointed to a newly created Paramedic role.

Claire originally completed her paramedic training in Australia before moving to New Zealand. Since 2022, she has been serving the Hauraki community from our neighbouring Paeroa Station, gaining valuable experience and building strong connections throughout the area.

Having recently made Te Aroha her home, Claire is excited to be joining the local station and supporting the community she now lives in.

Please join us in welcoming Claire to the Te Aroha team! 👏

Exiting news for Te Aroha!

With an increase in funding Te Aroha Station is moving from being crewed 12 hours each day (8am-8pm) to being crewed 24/7 by a frontline crew starting in May.

This will greatly improve response times to the Te Aroha Community, as well as relieve pressure on crews from neighbouring towns.

Also we are looking for a couple more volunteers to respond as a First Response Unit with our FRU car. This involves responding to incidents when our local crew are unavailable and a frontline ambulance is dispatched from further afield.

This works similar to the local fire brigade, with crew responding to station from home for a call out.
