A huge congratulations to the 6 Bronze and 2 Silver badge recipients, Room 8 for taking home the Attendance Shield, our awesome Principal’s Award winners, and the TAI Monsters for capturing the 2026 Lightning Lacrosse Shield! Special praise goes to Aarnika for her inspiring pepeha presentation.

The Ski Trip last week was a great success, we had good skiing weather for three of our five days, with a bit of snow and rain on the other two days. 16 students traveled to Whakapapa, staying in the Christiana Lodge for a week-long adventure. After a two hour lesson every day, all students managed to graduate from the beginner area 'Happy Valley' and ski down the first intermediate level run 'Rock Garden'. This is even more impressive when you consider 12 of the 16 students had not been skiing before, prior to this trip. Well done to all involved and thank you to Mrs Germann for her organisation of the event.

AIMS Games – Day 2

The highlight of Day 2 was our No. One 3x3 Basketball team, who, after going down narrowly in the semi-final, picked themselves up and produced a fantastic performance in the 3rd/4th playoff to claim the bronze medal! What an amazing achievement and something the team should be extremely proud of.

Our No. 2 team also played out of their skin, winning an exciting game in extra time against Pirongia to finish an impressive 9th out of 21 teams.

Overall, both teams played outstanding basketball over the two days and were SHINING both on and off the court. A fantastic effort from all our players and a great result for our school!

Our Girls’ Netball team started their campaign in impressive fashion with a convincing 42–7 victory over Mahurangi College. They have two more games tomorrow as they look to continue their strong start.

In the swimming pool, Katie continued to perform extremely well, finishing 47th in the 100m freestyle and 28th in the 200m backstroke, achieving personal bests in both events. An awesome effort!

Our Cross Country team were up bright and early to take on some of the country’s top young runners on a very demanding course. Everyone ran extremely well, with the standout performance coming from Mitchell Ross, who finished an outstanding 17th.

To finish off a huge day, all our teams, along with a number of our individual competitors, attended the AIMS Games Opening Ceremony. It was a fantastic occasion, enjoyed by everyone, and set a great tone for what promises to be an exciting week ahead.

AIMS Games – Day 1

Our 3x3 Basketball teams and swimmers kicked off our AIMS Games week with some fantastic results!

The highlight of the day was our No. 1 3x3 Basketball team, who went through the day unbeaten. They won all four of their pool games to make their way into the Top 8 round, where they continued their great form by winning both of their games.

Not to be outdone, our No. 2 team had some outstanding results of their own. They won two of their four pool games before winning both games in the 9th–16th playoff round. Overall, our two basketball teams won an incredible 10 out of 12 games. What a result! Both teams have one more game tomorrow before heading into the knockout rounds.

Our swimmers also had an amazing day in the pool. The girls competed in seven races altogether, with both Hannah and Katie achieving two PB's each. A fantastic effort from our swimmers and a great way to start their AIMS Games campaign.

A massive thank you to the team at Waikato Rugby for taking our players through an awesome afternoon of games, drills, and a Q&A! The energy was incredible, and our players learned so much from the best. What an unforgettable way to end the week!

We started our week on such a high note, celebrating the amazing students who have truly been shining!

A massive congratulations to everyone who received a Bronze or Silver badge, as well as our Principal's Certificate recipients—your hard work and positive attitude are paying off.

A special shoutout to Room 7, who are now the proud holders of the Attendance Shield! Plus, a huge ka pai to Forest for doing a fantastic job presenting her pepeha to the school.

Sports Camp – Day 2

The sun came out, and our students had another fantastic day at Sports Camp! There were plenty of new games and activities to participate in, along with lots of wins and a few losses along the way.

Most importantly, our students continue to show our true TAI SHINE values, supporting and encouraging each other, showing great sportsmanship, and giving everything a go.

A brilliant day all round. Bring on Day 3!

We had another fantastic opportunity for our music students to SHINE at TAI yesterday, as the host school for the 2026 Waikato Band and Orchestra Festival. We had twelve ensembles on site representing schools from as far as Matamata and Southwell.

TAI entered three groups this year. Our Senor Concert Band, Jazz Band and Junior Concert Band. All three groups represented the school with strong performances that they have been working on for months. We are pleased to state that all three groups were awarded gold in their respective categories by our visiting adjudicators Bob Hollinshead, Assistant Principal and Head of Music from Te Awamutu College, and Delwyn Stanbridge-Allen, Musical Director at St Paul's Collegiate School in Hamilton.
