2025 in Review!
2025 was yet another great year for 7 Squadron.
- We started with Recruit Camp between the 7th and 9th of March, where our 17 new recruits got their first taste of the Air Training Corps
- Towards the end of March, we held our annual Flying Camp, where we conducted 72 over the weekend.
- In April, we assisted the Hamilton RSA with Poppy Day, and took part in both the Cambridge and Hamilton Anzac Day commemorations.
- In May, Cadets had the opportunity to fly the F-18 Simulators at the Aviator Experience in Thames, and the NCOs spent a weekend at Waingaro Scout Camp for their annual NCO Camp.
- In July, we took part in the Annual Northern Area ATC Skills Competition, where our team won the 40 Squadron Drill Trophy and placed 2nd overall.
- The last weekend of July saw us take part in the Waikato/Thames Valley ATC Sports Weekend, where we managed to place 1st and won the Te Rapa Sports Shield
- In September, we took part in the annual Battle of Britain Day commemorations held in Thames, where our Cadets had the opportunity to meet the Chief of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
- In October, the NCOs ran our biennial 7 Squadron Ball. This years was a huge success, with over 80 people in attendance!
- In November, Cadets took part in the Hamilton Armistice Day commemorations, and we ran our annual bushcraft camp, Operation Bivouac.
- In December, to wrap the year up, we held our annual end-of-year prizegiving, where we recognized the greats achievements of our Cadets.
- Our final Parade Night was also an interesting one! Cadets took part in a Masterchef style competition (Judged by the Officers, of course). Congratulations to Corsairs Section, who won us over with their 3 cheese Mac'n'Cheese with a balsamic reduction.
Next year is looking great! Our first Parade Night back will be the 4th of February, and our recruiting Open Night will be held on following Wednesday (11th Feb)
From all of the Staff here at 7 Squadron, we'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
