Te Puna Quarry Park is a community development in the environmental arts. It has been transformed from a disused quarry to a beautiful park by dedicated volun

teers. It has been described as ‘The jewel in the crown of the Western Bay of Plenty.’

The old scar on the hillside has become a place of beauty. We have spectacular panoramic views out over the Bay of Plenty, and gardens of infinite variety. Featured throughout the Park, are sculptures by an amazing variety of artists. The Quarry is popular as an exhibition area for outdoor art, weddings and children’s birthdays. The walking tracks are easy for the moderately fit. This is a place to enjoy, a place of nature and tranquility, of stunning views and great art. We are a dog-friendly park. Dogs must be on a lead at all times to protect our increasing birdlife. There is also poison laid for pest control.

Saturday at Te Puna Quarry Park. I saw so many people out enjoying the park in the sunshine. Our long serving volunteer, Jo Dawkins, was busy keeping the park tidy with her trusty grubber. Check out the awesome painted forest she has been creating with the children from Nature Library NZ

National Volunteer Week, Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu

A tribute to our amazing volunteers who have created this special place for us all to enjoy...

Te Puna Quarry Park is an amazing place of special beauty with walkways, panoramic views, native and exotic trees, specialised gardens, ponds, butterflies, sculptures, and shelters.

Over the past 30 years, volunteers have converted a disused 32 hectare quarry site into a beautiful area that has been labelled 'The Jewel in the Crown of the Western Bay of Plenty.'
We have:
1) a public park with free admission (donations gratefully received!) enjoyed by locals, tourists, schools and community groups
2) The Gallery - a community hall, a popular and affordable venue for private and community gatherings
3) a popular dog walking space (dogs on leads)
4) a green space, second to none, in this area.

To all of our amazing volunteers, thank you for all of the time you donate to keep this piece of paradise as pristine as it always is.
