Friends of Minden Bush Reserve

Friends of Minden Bush Reserve Minden Bush Reserve, accessed off Ainsworth Rd just north of Te Puna, has an easy loop walk or for the more enthusiastic there are longer steeper options.

This group is to support the bush regeneration and eliminate the invasive plants.

Have you noticed the massive amount of leaf fall near the picnic area and on the first loop corner?
Well we were busy earlier this month drilling privet and poisoning, while the tree will take a while to decay the leaves certainly felt it. Good to see some results for these nasty pest plants.

How can you help improve the surrounds?

Great place to start is by removing pest plants within your own property, we are talking about the likes of the Taiwan cherry, as pretty as the blossom is it is definitely one of our region’s very invasive pest trees. Spread by birds, it quickly affects native plants and therefore bird life.

Other key pest plants to remove are Woolley nightshade and privet.

The best method is to cut and paste, this helps to stop any regrowth.

Any questions please let us know.

Nice….. this morning…lots of water in the stream and moisture on the plants. A great day to get out and explore!
