557: rescue tender because it carries the best toys 😂

Fun fact about you?
I’m the only one remaining from my original group of recruits

Tim has bragging rights for the rest of his life with the amount of hams he has won over the years in our annual brigade ham runs! 🐷🏃🎯

Tim also is one of our main recruit trainers and ensures they are all WELL prepped for their recruit courses at NTC (national training centre)

What made you join?
In 2024 we had an electrical fire in our home. The care and efficiency of the work the volunteers did was amazing and I wanted to be able to give back and serve the community in the same way.

What was your first working call?
Motor vehicle accident in town. Thankfully no one was hurt.

What is your favourite appliance/ truck?
551. It's the comfiest to ride in.

What is one Fun fact about you?
I got punched in the head by NZ Comedian Pax Assadi and he wrote about it in his book. Still waiting for my signed copy.

It’s Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu – National Volunteer Week!
Here’s to our crew of more than 11,800 volunteers serving across Aotearoa New Zealand 🙌
Our volunteers respond 24/7, 365 days of the year. We want to acknowledge what they give up to do this. Dinners are cut short, work is left for others to pick up and sometimes precious moments are missed.

On Saturday, our team from Thames were joined by Pylat from Tapu brigade, to race up the Sky Tower in full firefighting kit to raise vital funds and awareness for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).

With the help of our community, the team raised just over $3000 for this important cause.

Fun facts:
🔥Skytower is 1,103 stairs
🔥328 metres of climbing.....
🔥51 flights of stairs
🔥25kgs of firefighting gear

A big thankyou to everyone who came out to our quiz night on Friday evening! Our team put alot of time into planning this and we personally feel it went great 🥰

Thankyou to the local businesses who donated prizes for the cause. Overall we fundraised over $1500 for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ.
