For our Tokoroa whānau 💛

We’re excited to join forces with our whānau at Kiwi Staff Ltd and local community leaders in hosting a Recruitment Drive in our whare, Te Tira, on Wednesday 15 October, from 10am – 2:30pm.

This kaupapa is especially for those impacted by the OJI and CHH mill closures. A chance to come together, reconnect, and explore new possibilities🌱

It’s not just about finding jobs, it’s about rebuilding, discovering new opportunities, and strengthening the bonds within our community.

With the support of Raukawa, Wera Aotearoa Charitable Trust - Youth Services, South Waikato YMCA, and other local partners, we’re creating a space where whānau can find guidance, training options, and pathways into mahi and wellbeing.

Come down, have a chat, enjoy some kai and a cuppa, and see what’s out there for you and your whānau. Whether you’re looking for work, study options, or just a bit of support, we’re here to help you take the next step.

This morning, members of the community, the Mayor and Elected Members as well as Council Staff came together for the opening and blessing of Te Tira, a newly rebranded shared space dedicated to the service of rangatahi here in South Waikato. 💙

The space was blessed by Minister Tengaru Paniora. We also heard from Mayor Gary Petley who acknowledged the resilience of our Community and spoke of the good things to come, and from Maine Tarai who gifted Te Tira its name.
‘Te Tira’ translates to the mast of a canoe- the supportive force that helps guide our direction and keep us steady as we move forward.

Any celebration in the District is incomplete without a performance by TTV-Tamariki O Te Vaorākau Dance Group and they definitely brought their contagious energy to the gathering!

Te Tira will be home to a number of organisations including WorkIt, Kiwi Staff, Raukawa and Wera Aotearoa Charitable Trust. 🙌

Last night we attended the Waikato Pacific Business Awards where, 22 year-old Tokoroa-based graphic designer, Grace walked away with the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. ✨

As the founder of ACIE Designs, Grace truly exemplifies the qualities that this award stands for - innovation, tenacity, resilience, and a relentless desire to keep learning. Her graphic design business has not only thrived but has also inspired others on her path. 🎨
