🌟 Celebrating Our Special People – Room 5 🌟

This Father’s Day, Room 5 would like to wish all of the fathers and special father figures in our lives a very happy Father’s Day! ❀️

To celebrate, our tamariki have been busy creating some very special personalised coasters. Each child wrote their name, drew a picture of themselves with their special person, and added photos from their time at school. πŸ–οΈπŸ“Έ

We know that the people who hold a special place in our tamariki’s lives can look different for every whānau. Our children may have chosen to celebrate a dad, grandad, uncle, aunty, mum, nana, step-parent, caregiver or another special person who is there to love, support and encourage them. ❀️

We hope these little gifts bring lots of smiles and remind our special people just how important they are to our tamariki. 🌱✨

Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful special people being celebrated in our Room 5 whānau!

πŸš’πŸ”₯ What an exciting week of learning! πŸ”₯πŸš’

The fire engine came to school this week as part of our Firewise learning, providing plenty of excitement and inspiration for our tamariki!

Room 5 used the experience as inspiration for their writing and created some fantastic stories. It was wonderful to see them taking a real-life experience and using their imagination to bring their ideas to life. πŸ“βœ¨

We love seeing the excitement from experiences like this continue into the classroom and inspire such amazing learning! πŸš’πŸ“š

Last week, our tamariki took part in our school Cross Country β€” and it was also their first opportunity to dress up and show their house mana for our new houses!

It was fantastic to see our learners getting into the spirit and proudly showing their support for their houses:

❀️ Aroha
🧑 Mātātoa
πŸ’™ Kairangi
πŸ’š Tapatahi

Check out Room 4, who were rocking their house colours and dress-ups as they showed their support and mana for their houses! We love seeing our tamariki getting involved and proudly representing their whare. 🌟

Bright colours and rich cultural heritage in Room 7 last week! Our artists created stunning golden daffodils using pastels and dye to support Daffodil Day, while also celebrating Tongan Language Week by learning to design traditional Ngatu patterns onto geckos. So proud of their creativity, detail, and respect for Tongan art traditions!

πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ SCIENCE WEEK AT TOKOROA CENTRAL SCHOOL! πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬

What a fantastic week of science we had at Tokoroa Central School!

Throughout the week, Miss Gurr challenged our students with a Science Week Quiz in the daily notices, with a different question for Year 0–2, Year 3–4 and Year 5–6 each day. It was fantastic to see so many of our tamariki getting involved, challenging themselves, and putting their science knowledge to the test!

πŸ§ͺ SCIENCE DIDN'T STOP AT THE QUIZ!

Throughout the week, our teachers also ran fun, hands-on science activities during break times, giving students the chance to experiment, investigate, make predictions and see science in action!

On Monday, Miss Gurr ran a physical tower-building challenge, while Miss Hickey and Miss Gurr helped students with volcano building. πŸŒ‹

On Thursday at lunchtime, Mrs Sheck got students launching rockets! πŸš€ Unfortunately, there are no photos of the rocket launching β€” everyone was far too busy having fun!

πŸ‘€πŸ“Έ Can you guess what some of the other science activities were β€” and can you work out the science behind each activity from the photos?

There was plenty of experimenting, questioning, predicting and, of course, a few WOW! moments along the way! πŸ”ŽπŸ’₯

A huge well done to everyone who entered our Science Week Quiz and had a go! Science is all about being curious, asking questions, making predictions and having a go β€” and our students certainly showed all of these qualities throughout the week!

🧠 THINK YOU KNOW YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL SCIENCE?

πŸš¨πŸš’ RED ALERT! RED ALERT! πŸš’πŸš¨

You may have spotted a fire engine at Tokoroa Central School this morning, but there was no need to panic! πŸ”₯πŸ˜‰

Our special visitors were here to support our Junior Team tamariki as part of their Firewise learning β€” and what a blast they had!

A huge thank you to Tong from Fire and Emergency, along with Dave, Chris and Shannon from the Tokoroa Volunteer Fire Brigade for coming along and helping bring our learning to life. Our tamariki loved getting involved in all of the activities, and one of the highlights was getting the chance to climb inside and explore the fire engine! πŸš’

It was an exciting morning filled with plenty of learning, fun and some very happy tamariki!

Last week, we held our Junior Cross Country and Participation Races, giving all of our tamariki the opportunity to get involved, challenge themselves, and enjoy being part of the day.

It was fantastic to see our learners giving it their all out on the course. Whether they were racing towards the finish line, taking part in a participation race, or supporting and encouraging their classmates, our tamariki showed great determination and courage. 🌟

It was also fantastic to see our tamariki showing their house mana for the first time! β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ’š Learners proudly wore their house colours and represented Aroha, Mātātoa, Kairangi and Tapatahi throughout the day.
