We are very proud of FF Cheri-Lu Flight. Not only is she one of our firefighters, she is also our brigade secretary, in charge of brigade welfare AND on top of all that she is our Home Fire Safety Check Coordinator. Cheri keeps our Brigade wheels turning and is doing vital work to keep our community safe!

It is with a great sadness that I advise that firefighter Roderick " Rick " Miller passed away over night. Rick was a part of our local Turangi Fire Brigade whanau and a dedicated member of team and community.

This has come as a massive shock and he will be missed by all who knew him. I would ask that you pray for his family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.

Please find all the information in regards to the four services that will be held this Saturday 25th April 2015 around Turangi.

The Waihi Village Dawn Service commences at 05:40am Sharp, if you are parading you need to be there at 05:30am

Hi team latest update on power outage. The Lines Company are in attendance at one of thier substations. I have talked to a Technician and he said there are multiple faults that they are trying to fix. They also have a helicopter around the Saddle area checking for any faults out there. No ETA and no confirmed reasons for the faults at this time. They have also tried back feeding which has failed. In any case it's business as usual for the brigade except you won't hear our siren until the power has been reinstated.

Chief Fire Officer Update:

It gives me great pleasure to give advance notice about our 50th Jubilee Celebrations. We have selected Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th of October for our celebration weekend. This is also “Labour Weekend 2015” so Monday is a public holiday. Our dedicated team led by Project Manager Christal Morrison are still sorting the finer details but the event will consist of the following.

Saturday: Vehicle parade featuring new and older vehicles, staff wearing new and old uniforms, open day for the fire station, Formal ball on Saturday Night (invite only) with the unveiling of our 50th Jubilee Book.

Sunday: Current and Ex Member mini waterway competition fun run followed by a farewell lunch.

There will be a commemoration shirt for men and ladies designed. We hope to have this unveiled soon. It is set to be an action packed weekend full of fun, laughter and walks down memory lane. Most of the events will be open to the public, but a full program will be available sooner to the date.

Attention ALL former members, their families and associated service personnel, can you please contact Christal to register your interest so we can ensure that you are apart of this significant milestone. Her details are: [email protected] or 027 316 2187

Please share this post or news with as many people as you can
