It's a very special Throwback Thursday... today, we're celebrating the 60th anniversary of Upper Hutt becoming a city! π
On this very day 60 years ago, Upper Hutt was proclaimed a city by Governor-General Sir Bernard Fergusson.
To commemorate the occasion, this booklet was produced, documenting the life of locals at the time, and looking forward to the future ahead. Here are a few pages that cover the schools of Upper Hutt, shopping and business, and a sketch of the proposed Civic Centre β can you spot the Library? π
