Our teen volunteer, Ishaana, has shared his review of "Five Nights at Freddy's: Fazbear Frights" to get you in the spooky mood 👻

"Five Nights at Freddy's is a great series about horror robot animals." 😱

"There were 3 boys going to explore an abandoned pizza place. They went and checked out the robot animals. As soon as they got close to them, one came to life and attempted to bite the group of boys!" 🍕

"This book was mostly based about horror and showing the causes and effects of exploring unknown places. It was pretty interesting to see what they found out because of all the crazy looking robot animals." 👀

"I would recommend this to someone who likes to read about a mix of horror and adventure. I would give this book a 5/5!" 🏆

Heretaunga College's 4th form art class of around 25 students had been asked for proposals, and were offered materials and a $500 donation for the college's art department. Nigel's design was chosen, and included various aspects of tree planting, felling, and gardening.

Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, running 12-18 October 2026. 🤗

This year's theme – Belonging Matters – is one that's particularly close to our heart. Everyone is welcome at Upper Hutt Libraries: parents bringing their little ones to StoryTots; keen readers checking out what's new on the shelves; long-time locals browsing the daily newspapers and meeting friends at one of our programmes; new residents exploring information about the city. And that's only a few examples of how our community makes the most of what we have on offer.
