🧢 BUCKET HAT REMINDER – TOMORROW! ☀️

Kia ora e te whānau,

A friendly reminder that Term 4 is SunSmart term, and all ākonga need to bring their bucket hat to kura every day.

From tomorrow, ākonga without a bucket hat will be encouraged to play and spend break times in designated shaded areas to help keep them safe in the sun.

Please ensure your tamaiti has a plain black or Maidstone bucket hat ready for the school day.

Maidstone bucket hats are available from the school office for $18 if you need one.

Thanks for helping us keep our ākonga sun safe! ☀️

🌿 MANGAROA CAMP 2026 – DAY 4! 💪🔥

Our Mangaroa ākonga continued making the most of every opportunity, with another action-packed day of adventure, challenges and teamwork! 🙌

From archery, damper cooking, crate stacking, abseiling, zip-lining, go-karting, orienteering, frisbee golf, team-building activities and slug guns, to exploring the beautiful Abel Tasman on our walk, there was plenty of mahi and adventure to keep everyone busy! 🏹🌊⛰️

Due to the weather, we made the decision to return home earlier than planned. We're happy to report that everyone is home safe and sound, bringing back plenty of memories, achievements and stories to share! ❤️

A huge well done to our ākonga for their resilience, teamwork and willingness to give everything a go throughout camp. Ka mau te wehi, Mangaroa! 👏

🔊 STEAM INNOVATION IN ACTION! 🤖

Our STEAM Tech Ninja Leader, Ethan Crickmar, has taken creativity and ingenuity to the next level! 💡

Ethan has transformed a child's suitcase into a rolling boombox, using speakers and amplifiers to bring his creation to life. 🔥🎶

A fantastic example of problem-solving, creative thinking and hands-on engineering in action. Ka mau te wehi, Ethan! 👏

🎨 Tararua Rōpū Visit to Whirinaki Whare Taonga 🎨

Our Tararua Rōpū ākonga had a fantastic learning experience at Whirinaki Whare Taonga! They explored a range of exhibitions, learning about the history and artwork of Darcy Nicholas, discovering Oho Mai and Ōrongomai Tū Tonu, and gaining a deeper understanding of the history of Ōrongomai.

One of our classes was especially fortunate to meet artist Joanne Kahui, who generously shared her knowledge of weaving and explained her creative process. Joanne then hosted a Q&A session, where our ākonga enthusiastically asked questions and got involved in the discussion. What an amazing opportunity to learn directly from an artist! 🧶✨
To finish off the visit, our ākonga headed to the activity room to unleash their creativity and create their own masterpieces, inspired by the art and exhibitions they had explored. 🎨

A huge ngā mihi nui to Karen Nel from Whirinaki Whare Taonga for being our wonderful tour guide, and to Joanne Kahui for taking the time to share her knowledge, skills and passion with our learners.

Experiences like these bring learning to life, connect us with our local stories and history, and inspire our ākonga to explore their own creativity.

🌧️ MANGAROA CAMP 2026 – DAY 3! 💪🔥

The weather challenged us today, but a bit of rain wasn't going to stop our Mangaroa ākonga! 🌧️ Our crew got stuck into another action-packed day full of adventure, teamwork and trying new things.

Today's activities included archery, damper cooking, crate stacking, abseiling, zip-lining, go-karting, orienteering, frisbee golf, team-building challenges and slug guns! 🏹🛞🌲

After a busy day, we refuelled with burgers for dinner before heading out on the Burma Trail for some frights, thrills and camp-night excitement! 👻🔦

What a day of resilience, courage and whanaungatanga! We're keeping our fingers crossed for some sunshine tomorrow. ☀️🤞

Bring on Day 4, Mangaroa!
