Welcome to this week's newsletter! As we push through Term 3, I am continuously inspired by the energy, talent, and community spirit alive across our kura.
From academic excellence and cultural learning to sporting triumphs, creative expression, and strong community partnerships, Waihī Beach School is performing exceptionally across all aspects of primary school education to ensure our tamariki thrive.
Academic & Cultural Achievements
🔬 👩🏽‍🔬 Rotorua Science Fair Success: A massive congratulations to Violet, Mackenzie, Kyla, and Mahalia for taking home second place at the Rotorua Science Fair - an outstanding achievement representing our school's sharp scientific minds.
🎭 Performing Arts: Our students shone brilliantly during the Performing Arts Showcase 2026, bringing tears to our eyes and our hearts swelling with pride with the many and varied talents on show, not to mention an incredibly well scripted, excellent acting and hilarious 'Magic Numbers' play!
📚 Literacy Whizzes: our dedicated literary team represented us with pride at the 2026 Book Battle at Hamilton Central Libraries.

Sporting Highlights
🤸🏽‍♂️ Gymnastics Excellence: Fantastic work by our gymnasts competing across the region, including the Y3 & 4 Te Puke Gymnastics event and the Waikato Regional Gymnastics Competition.
🏀 On the Court: Our senior students showed great sportsmanship at the Year 5 & 6 Waihī Basketball Blitz tournament.

PTA & Community Initiatives
🪩 🕺🏽 Events & Fundraising: Get ready for the upcoming Neon Disco - tickets and snack packs can now be purchased directly via Kindo.
🥪 🏡 Community Support: Huge thank you to Harcourts for sponsoring our first five weeks of Breakfast Club this term! We appreciate you!
🛝 Playground Safety: Please take a moment to review our Playgrounds - Sand & Bark reminders to help keep outdoor playtime safe for everyone.

📆 Calendar: I encourage all families to check the Term 3 Key Dates to stay ahead of school events.

Tickets and Snack Packs are available now through Kindo.

⚠️ Important update for families who have already purchased a Snack Pack:

We've swapped the snack pack sausage for a slice of pizza! 🍕
With our PTA sausage sizzle happening at lunchtime, we thought pizza would make the perfect disco dinner instead.

Your Snack Pack still includes:
✨ Disco entry
🧃 Juice Box
🍬 Lolly Bag
🍕 Pizza Slice - cheese, hawaiian and pepperoni available, as well as GF cheese.

🙋 Can you lend us a hand? We're also looking for a few extra helpers to:
✨ Decorate the hall
🍕 Hand out pizza
🙌 Help during the disco
🧹 Pack up afterwards

Even an hour or two would make a huge difference.

The PTA will be firing up the BBQ during the Year 1–2 Interschool Football Tournament on Friday 11 September.

Whether your child is playing or spending the day at school as usual, everyone is welcome to grab lunch from the PTA!
