On ANZAC Day we pause to remember those who served and sacrificed for our country.
Our tamariki have been exploring this through stories, art and making ANZAC biscuits, connecting past to present.
Lest we forget.

A big thank you to the wonderful team and students at Uruti School for hosting such a fantastic Enviroschools day. Our ākonga loved exploring biodiversity in action - investigating insect habitats, getting hands-on creating their own, and sharing thoughtful ideas about how we can care for the small but mighty creatures in our environment. A rich day of learning, connection, and muddy shoes - just how we like it!

Whareorino Strong!

Little did we know when we left Te Anga Stock Day what the next few weeks would bring - floods, slips, road closures, no power and an emergency school closure.
But what a community we have! Neighbours checked in, shared food and water and helped each other through. Huge thanks to Herbert Bennett for clearing roads, and to the Police, Fire Brigade, Te Nehenehenui Trust, Mayoral Relief Fund and MOE for their support.

We’re back at school now, with plenty of stories to tell and even stronger connections. We won a prize from Tui through Garden to Table and lots of us went docking. With a Rural First Aid course under our belt we are better prepared for emergencies and accidents.

The Crazy Pet Day (we couldn’t get to Tainui Girls and Boys Pet Day - another slip) lifted everyone’s spirits, with all becoming pets to be paraded around the ring.

The road to Awakino will soon be fully open as the crew makes their way through 29 slips. For now, it’s still just residents, recognisable by our muddy utes.

Today we finished where we started, driving back through Marokopa with van load of happy students after spending a combined Halloween Day with Piripiri School - reconnecting with our rural friends and having some fun!

Thank you Whareorino School community, where resilience, teamwork and making the best of what you have, gets us through.

Te Anga Stock Day Adventures!
Whareorino students had a great day out at Te Anga Stock Day in Marokopa – and everyone came home with their own wins! From first-timers in the ring to our seasoned handlers, the kid goats and lambs all looked fantastic.
Beautiful harakeke weaving, clever sock puppets, and creative vege carving showed off plenty of talent too. The sandwich combinations proved a winner along with the delicious cookies.
And watch out… with Herbie, Olivia, Levi and Charlotte showing their skills, we might just have found our new school lunch chefs! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Tainui Cluster School Camp - Wellington. We explored Wellington, enjoying making a tv production at Capital-E, understanding how parliament works, sleeping over at the zoo, rollerblading, rock climbing, Te Papa and giant squid, Wētā Workshop and much more. Thank you to all the folk from Ahititi, Mokau and Uruti Schools who made it such a great adventure.
