A huge mihi to the organisers of the Community Healthcare Election Forum at The House of Breakthrough. To all of the speakers and frontline health workers who came together tonight to kōrero about the future of healthcare in our communities e mihi ana!

Thank you for creating the space to share lived experiences and put the voices of our frontline workers at the centre of the kaupapa.

Our nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants, doctors and Māori and iwi health providers give so much every day to care for our whānau.

But in order for them to care for others, they need to be cared for too, mentally, spiritually and physically, alongside the wellbeing of their own whānau.

You cannot keep asking people to give from an empty cup.

Me mihi ka tika ki nga mema Paremata o Reipa i tae atu me nga kaitono no te Pāti Kakariki me TOP. It’s always a pleasure to sit alongside other political party’s to share the mic 🎤 and hear and share each others whakaaro.

Tomorrow at 2.30pm, I’ll be at the Gisborne Hospital to support our frontline health workers and stand alongside them.

I’m asking you to come and support them too. 🙌🏽

I’ll have spare Te Pāti Māori flags with me so we can visibly show our support.

To our Te Pāti Māori supporters bring your flags, bring your aroha and your words of tautoko 🖤🤍❤️

Come stand with our frontline workers and let them know they are not standing alone.

Because supporting our health workers means supporting our whānau, our communities, and eachother.

When Shane is free to say what he wants about others yet when he is confronted by a wahine, kuia and a strong advocate for Te Tiriti o Waitangi. He can’t cope and rings the police on her. She was mistreated for using nothing but her voice and thoughts to challenge the ongoing attacks of his Party policies that continue to harm our people and taiao.

Fighting for a better tomorrow for our mokopuna.
